Info Lag & Downtime Update

Hi everyone,

The server was down for a while last night due to a DDoS attack causing the IP to become 'blackholed'. We have now returned to the DDoS protected IP. The reason for us temporarily using the non-protected IP was to try and diagnose the lag problems, however it seems that the DDoS protection has nothing to do with the lag and that any lag is simply due to the MySQL query load that the database has been having to handle.

This means that our next task is to attempt to optimise the source code and the MySQL queries which take place. We will push any successful optimisations online as soon as we can. Although it may take a little while to complete all the optimisations because we will likely need to rewrite a lot of code mainly to do with the way inventory items are hired merchant items are handled.

Since the IP and DNS records have changed recently, this means that it could take some time before you are able to access the game. In some cases it can take up to 24 hours. It is likely that if you can read this message that the DNS changes have already propagated and you should be able to log into the game.

We apologise for the recent problems and assure you we are doing our best to sort everything out.
