    Hi guys.

I was basically wondering how to proceed with my nub slinger.
This guide says to not HP wash at all, or maybe just a little, because excessive washing will only hurt your boat more on 1/1's.

However, this thread said that it is necessary to wash for HT. Not even just a little bit, it recommends leveling with 200 int!

So I wanted to hear from other Corsairs what I should do. Here's where I stand now, been leveling with 5x Int up until this point, should be 7x Int by lv50+.

More Int? Wash a little bit? No wash at all? What say you guys

I'm no corsair but I think I can explain why the two threads are different.

The first thread with the Corsair Guide is outdated (created Sept 4, 2014) and was created BEFORE two major patches:

    1) The Corsair's boat skills was changed so the HP actually scaled (I'm not sure about the details but I know that corsairs used to keep boat at level one before this patch and now they max it because it's now helpful to max)

    2) Horntail was fixed to attack properly so now it has a magic attack that deals ~8k damage so having a 9k HP minimum is required to survive. This is assuming you don't have HB. Previous to the patch, you only needed 5.6k HP to survive magical attacks but that is no longer the case.

The math is rather straightforward if you want to actually figure out the exact INT required to reach 9k and I'm sure someone else can help you if you REALLY can't figure it out, but be warned, it will take a lot of mesos to wash to that point (I'm talking multiple billions) and it's okay to not have 9k HP. You will have to rely on HB to survive at HT but you can make through HT at 155 even with minimal washing and I know plenty of high levelled players with only 6k or 7k hp who run Horntail daily.

What @Platypi said is mostly right; about the boat HP though, the changes have not been implemented yet - these will come with the new source.

To address your concerns, I would say that if you have the funds to, to wash to 9k by around Level 155. This would allow you to run HT without HB, meaning that being dispelled or the Drk on your run dying shouldn't affect you.
However, if you are lacking in funds (i.e. If you view 1~2b as "A LOT" of mesos), then I suggest just skipping out on washing. Although HT now hits up to mid-8k damage, because these changes to Horntail have been so recent, I would say that most ranged attackers that are able to HT at the moment are around the 6~7k HP mark. This means that even if you're washed, most if not all runs you will be going on will have HB, and therefore I don't see it as a necessity. I'm a Level 17x corsair with roughly 7.2k HP; all runs I've joined have HB - and even if you happen to join a HB-less run as a ranged attacker, you could start attacking head C of HT while the rest of your team brings down legs/tail/wings. Getting past this stage will ensure that you survive until at least mass seduce is cast; at this point if you have below 9k HP then I'd say it depends on the duration of the sed as to whether you will be able to survive or not.
All in all, because these changes are so recent, I believe there will be a rather long period of time before a new wave of HP-washed ranged players emerge in response to the new HP requirements, and so I wouldn't go through the trouble of washing.
