Hello everyone! I'm currently leveling a F/P mage and HS mule to sell leech, and will look forward to making an attacker not too long from now. From what I've researched, the impression I get is that NLs generally top the DPS charts, but only if SE is available. I've been told to make both SE mule and a NL to be self-sufficient, but it's very daunting knowing that it would take a very long time for the NL to start bossing. Right now, I'm leaning toward making only a BM because I don't want to spend half a year or more leveling mules. (I'm not a hardcore leveler, and have no personal preference for an attacker class) Is this the right choice in my situation, or should I go with a different attacker as my first? Any advice or opinion would be appreciated!
You don't have to make a SE mule to play NL with maximum effectiveness. You can party up with other BMs or MMs and boss together. SE mules are generally for NLs that like to boss with less than the average party size (1-3 people usually). You could always make a NL for now and make a SE mule later on once you've funded your NL with good end-game gear (claw, cape, shoe, glove, htp, etc). If you truly want to make a NL, then go for it. Don't play a class you don't want to, because every class has a workaround to their disadvantages, and in the end you'll just be bored and less motivated to play. Since you're open to suggestions, I'd recommend Corsair! It's a super fun class but it takes some practice to master. Once you get the hang of it, however, you'll be outputting some of the highest DPS in the game and having fun dismounting/mounting your battleship! Good luck!
I couldn't agree more with what @Gurps said. Play a style that is fun for you. In addition, if you choose to self leech to make your attacker, it's not too much hassle to make an extra character at the same time by split leeching. I've split leech my hero and bucc the entire way to 13x (and now I'm working on a nl and bm at the same time). Split leech is really efficient, so much that making 2 chars should only take ~15% additional effort vs solo leeching 1 char. Good luck and have fun!
Thanks for all the opinions and advice! I'm probably going to level a NL, because I used to play one in GMS and want to play it again for the nostalgia I'll definitely try split leeching and see how it goes! (with a BM, most likely)
