Hi guys, I'm really running out of ideas here I play on a Mac (yes I know, awful) and doing any kind of bossing is a huge struggle. I've tried several methods to be able to reliably boss, but every avenue has had some issue that ultimately leads to a dead end. A brief summary of my pursuits: I tried setting up Parallels with both Win7 and WinXP, but ran into errors. Parallels + Win7 worked, but I encountered a keyboard lag issue where there was a brief delay between my key inputs and reaction in Royals. This only occurred with MapleRoyals, not with other programs. Parallels + WinXP made my client run in "slow motion", not the same as FPS drops. Both were documented here: http://www.royals.ms/forum/threads/mac-parallels-set-up-guide.20193/ I then tried to run VMware + WinXP directly from my Mac operating system, but my FPS there would suffer huge drops. It was pretty unplayable. Documented here: http://www.royals.ms/forum/threads/...-closing-your-client.16643/page-4#post-155973 I set up BootCamp + Win7 which worked with no initial problems. However when Zakking, I still suffer sporadic graphics DCs. My zakking record is ~2 successes/4 fails. This is not a long term replacement, as I'd like to have a reliable method to zak/boss with. Finally, I just now decided to install VMware + WinXP on my BootCamped Win7 operating system. It too encountered FPS drops, though these were much worse than my first attempt with VMware (see above). The FPS would drop from just walking around FM, let alone using minor skills like TP. Clearly unusable. Friends, I am worried that I'm going to go bald by pulling all of the hairs off my head in frustration Does anyone have any ideas for what I could do next? Is there anything else that I could try differently? I'm really open to any suggestion (short of buying a new PC).
Maybe you downloaded a bad windows XP iso file? XP should work. How much RAM do you allocate to your Windows OS
When you run parallels and win xp and you get the slowmotion thing just resize (bigger or smaller doesn't matter just find the right size that works) For me personally it always works when i make it any size but more flat.
I followed the link from Tim's Horn Tail guide and downloaded that copy of windows XP. RAM for parallels: 2048 MB with 4 cores RAM for vmware: 3072MB with 3 cores
What do you mean by resize? Resize the client window? Or resize the whole parallels window? Also, how do you even resize the client window in XP
Parallels, you take it off fullscreen (if it is, ^cmd F) then you press ctrl alt (to use your cursor outside of parallels) and then you resize it from the right bottom corner. (Make it a more rectangle shape instead of square) @dingus
I resized the parallels window, but to no avail Here's a gif of what it's like: Here, the parallels window was adjusted to less than half of my screen size. The FPS was hovering around 140 the entire time as well.
Maybe you could try something similar to this (if you haven't yet): Spoiler If not then perhaps you do not have enough RAM added to your parallels.
What the heck... I did this (along with putting in 4GB of RAM this time) and it actually worked Why is it that the rectangular shape of parallels doesn't cause that "slow motion" lag? Does this mean I just have to keep parallels running so that the window is always slightly rectangular? Wow, thank you so much @Thom I can't believe that was such a simple fix ^_^
I think so yes, I myself struggled with this for a couple of months before realizing. I'm unsure how or why but yeah. Well glad to help and good luck bossing !
