Hello MapleRoyals, This is an little discussion I had between my friends that Genesis Speed Vs the FP Mage Ultimate Casting Speed. and a little difference noticed between the Speed/Animation on the ultimates. Here are 2 Videos Test I made together with @Al3x We Ultimate and held Left Button. and we can see the difference easily. We used ultimate on the same time in both the video. (Really ALMOST same time) Is this difference true? is this discussed before? F/P Vs I/L? Players Uses mages/Bishops to farm drops stationary, will a bishop be an better option overall? Its a fun food for thought, might be an good discussion as well. What do you guys think? Well @PhotonSphere had linked an very interesting post below made by @Buccaneer who had the speed differences. (Which includes Bliz/Meteor & Genesis) https://royals.ms/forum/threads/effectiveness-of-speed-infusion.105994/ Spoiler
You're forgetting there's a delay between players to move. The skills should be hitting at the same time (Im talking in general, booster should be faster), but the other player might move after where you move immediately. You can see this if you open 2 clients, and stand in the FM and move on one screen and watch from the other, it won't sync up.
It has been known that Genesis is faster than Meteor and Blizz by 360ms even with AM's booster. See this post for a reference: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/effectiveness-of-speed-infusion.105994/ The difference in video seems longer than 360ms. Probably can be attributed to Evan's explanation (delay between your own movement and others seeing your movement).
To be honest, even if Meteor Shower or Blizzard were faster than Genesis, just being a F/P or I/L mage is kinda a disadvantage because you don't have HS, and all the other helpful party buffs a Bishop has. This might sound stupid or unfair thing to say, but I never really understood the point of starting a F/P or I/L, if you can be a Bishop and be superior in many ways. Better question to ask here is - what are F/P and I/L mages better at than Bishops, that makes up for their lack of HS and other party buffs?
To 1 hit ulu2, petris, skeles, etc with bishop, you need to be reasonably high level and have insane gear. For AM, they can get by being low lvl and have mediocre gear to 1 hit those mobs. Also they can just make a HS mule, which only takes a few days at most. If you want to leech, pick AM. If you want to boss, pick Bishop.
Bishops only end game grind is Skeles, AM have ToT... although a probably more accurate assessment of "how good are mages" or "What makes one better than the other" is a mix of pre-120 leveling (IL are fast, but FP are insane 75-120) and ability to sell leech, and I believe AM are still inherently stronger on neutral monsters than bishops are. edit: to add on what the guy said, the staff/wand bonuses are a huge boost to why they're able to leech later mobs earlier than bishops
Thats very true and mistake from my end. Perhaps i should had requested an favor from @Al3x and try recording at his end. This video is definately not an accurate test. Hmm. Overall since its pretty much tested and discussed before. Seems like there definately is an difference and not just a feeling. Do you think theres a benefit to this differences that may benefit players? Or its just a fun interesting difference for observation
Yeah mates, but even with this advantage of higher damage for Arch Mages. How is that making up for a lack of all the party buffs a Bishop has? Don't forget, all the consequences of not having them - unable to ress others, must specially bring a hs mule, no mystic door, no dispel, no holy shield... which results in much less party invites for Arch mages(if at all), and being forced to take a solo grinding path. Which can be boring and repetitive as hell. If there was something significant that Arch Mages has and a Bishop doesnt have, I would consider them a reasonable class to pick. Higher damage isn't a good enough excuse to choose Arch Mage over a Bishop.
Well, mages are the epitome of a solo-grind, and that's okay, there's classes that thrive better on party play (and I don't think all classes need to be good bossers/partiers and good grinders at the same time) The flip side though is mages were stronger by a fair amount from a new-source buff, but it was reverted because it was making leeching too easy for them. This is tricky because it put them back to closer to being next to the better bosser-bishops, but the leech affect was a problem. It's hard to give them something that will encourage party play without making them too good at leeching.
Remember a norm doesn't necessarily suit everyone. There are people like me who prefer solo grinding. I did it until lvl 200 on an archmage. There is subjectivity when discussing what's "better" for an individual. Royals focus a lot on end game bossing and upgrades for high wep att gears. Some people prefer to go on the road of dedication to quickly create an end-game-leech-map 1hitting AM + hs mule to sell endless expensive leech to save up for ultimate assets. Some leech sellers prefer selling with a HS mule because they don't need to reapproach the buyer for HS buff.
Arch mage indeed does not has the bonuses of Bishops, but lets not forget about the beauty of multi-clienting. By farming up an bishop up to lvl81 as an HS mule, players tend to choose The Arch Mage route in comparison to the full bishop route, having to suffer the pain to buy an Gene20 and Gene30, causing an economy crisis to an particular player’s mesos pool. Arch Mages are pretty Strong classes when you discuss it for boss usages. Lets bring back an memory of one of the greatest archmage player in royals, martin ,dishing out insane damage. Its pretty argueable if u actually make an Archmage to horntail, buffed with ssiws cheese and similar fundings your attacker. Spamminng Bliz/Meteor hitting 5targets of more does similar or more amount of damage of what hero/Dk or even BM.
Arch mage's cannot compete in terms of utility for a bossing party, but in terms of damage, they are about 1.5 times as strong.
I bring my trio red yellow and blue power rangers to HT cuz I don't have funds to 1hit darks as bishop. Ultimate speed don't matter. Raw damage does. Therefore mage> bishop hurdurr brokeback
Even though AM ulti speed is slightly slower, BS dmg sucks greatly. Heck even gene 30 sucks. Ppl complaining about having to multi client hs with AM but fail to realise how much harder it is to one hit skele within a suitable leech service level. For bs. Minimum requires gene 20 gene 30 and 40more tma. For AM. Meso to buy leech for hs mule. And probably mental impact in multi clienting hs. Side note a bishop that can one hit skele will be outdamaged by a level 130 naked AM To add on. AM can already sell ulu at naked 130. Assuming there is still a market in demand , AM will be making near what petri seller is making. But for BS, they will be selling low level leech. Selling Ws and harps requires some funding. Selling SB requires more funding. Selling ulu requires more more funding. If a bs can one hit ulu2, he can pretty much one hit skele soon just by levelling
Hello @Nostalgia123 , its true and definately Arch Mages potential with damage is insane! This is a fun test where speed differences are in play, and what potential can the players bring this up to! But what i feel, its both of these classes has its beauty. Selling leech? Well bishop is great! But archmages does an easier and better job! Bossing? Well. Bishop is core! Now we can easily see that these classes are actually pretty balanced, there isnt much to say where : If u think of it in an ovarall gameplay leveling midset as well. Archmages have it easy with it lvl30-70 as an I/L mage has insane mob Grinding abilities F/P has insane Mob Grinding and level potential being 2nd fastest leveling character in comparison to a Shadower. Which class would u like to play or what do u enjoy most is an question most player think when designing their mage. And imo, everything can be useful if played right.
It's kinda true now actually Some months ago Archmage was far better than Bishop in leeching due to their far stronger damage and skele having bad spawn. You could 1 hit petri as an FP mage with just 1200 magic or less and it could be done already at level 140-150. It was also sold for around 150m/hour (or 75m split). In comparison bishops were only able to either sell ulu 2 (which gives good drops but only 80/hour and bad exp) or try to sell skele (which is hard to 1 hit and only sold for 100m per hour due to their spawn being lower). This way the classes were pretty balanced, archmages were a lot better at high level leeching maps like ulu 2 and petri while bishops had the ability to sell low level leech and join bosses like HT due to their HS and other party buffs. After patch 54 however it completely changed with a significant nerf to Meteor/Blizzard (Meteor in particular got nerfed from 620 atk to 570) and a buff to the skele spawn rate making it almost as good as petri . Right now archmages need around 1255-1260 magic while bishops need around 1295 magic to 1 hit skele (with gene 30), this is just a matter of few more levels and it will take you less time to get these levels than to make an HS mule for an archmage. Skele also earns around the same money as petri (you get 130m in skele usually but the map got better drops than petri and higher NPC money) The only major disadvantage of Bishops right now is their expensive genesis books (which are currently going down in price actually) but it's nothing compared to the many advantages Bishops have over Archmages and I feel like the nerf should be reverted back to make it more balanced.
Bishop and AM seem to be in perfect balance right now. For those who think not, I prepared some extreme comparisons between the 2. Extreme comparisons Spoiler: Arch Mage If you are a hard core player with dedication who plays only to get rich, go AM route and make more income than bs from selling endless, boring hours of high lvl ulu leech. Your new home will be the ruins of Ulu and you will most likely sacrifice the fun of interacting with rest of what the game can offer but oh well, you will be overflowing with mesos to make a 30k hp NL in 6 months. No one will ever invite you ever for bossing unless they can't read english or color blind that they assume you are a bishop. But 0 opportunity for bossing = 0 disappointment anticipation! By the time you achieve your ultimate mission-impossible-goal and acquire the end game gears, your class mate would already have 2 PhDs and 3 daughters. But it's ok! Hikikomori is legal! If you went I/L route, tales say it takes 6 hours on average to farm the frozen heart for blizzard. Ifrit/Elquines quest is 2nd or 3rd most keyboard breaking chain quests in the game. Spoiler: Bishop If you are more chilled and prefer digging for variety of challenges, go Bishop. Cry hard while looking for free leech till 120. Cry even more when trying to kill Manon and find 2 ppl for HTPQ. Feel that depression when you are selling low level leech while your buddy who started on the same day sells ulu leech that pays 30m+ extra. Feel that adrenaline rush when you get invited to your first zak run but cringe when everyone screams at you for not dispelling every sec. Jump off the cliff when you fail gen20 which probably costed your week's saving. Try climbing back when you realize you still can't 1hit ulu2 even after passing gen20. Uninstall for a week when you fail gen30. Reinstall when your friends invite you for HT expedition. Front facepalm when you are dispelled by dark wyverns and die immediately from the consecutive magic attack. Ppl don't bring 2 bishops for HT! You are screwed! Hardest backslap when the ht squad excludes you from splits because you died in the middle of the run. Might sound bit one sided but I think they are fairly balanced already?
