Hey everyone, If you're somewhat well-versed with the world of collectible and trading card games, you'll have seen that the two names I use as one of my characters (EDIT: now abandoned), and my forum username, are named after two of the main characters that exist in the Magic: The Gathering multiverse: Elspeth Tirel and Jace Beleren. It'd be awesome if I could meet people on Royals who share the same addiction hobby as me. I've had people recognize my name many times (a few times on forum chat), so I know you people exist, albeit not in hordes. The one friend I've had so far who plays has since quit, so I need new people to talk to. So anyways, discussion topic. What do you think about the new set coming out in 3 weeks? First impressions? Speculations? EDIT: Props if you recognized my sin's and islander's IGNs, too. inb4 sarcastic Yu-Gi-Oh comment
oh my god. i was so addicted until i ran out of money, even then the addiction lasted another yearish. I'd love to get more into it again but its so freakin expensive
Conspiracy's out, maybe draft a bit? Really, all you have to bring is yourself and some money. I highly recommend it. You might get some high-value cards, like Stifle.
Glad to see there are some people that play MTG here . I was a bit disappointed that this thread didn't have much attention though. So did you like M15? Overall I thought it was ok. I couldn't pull myself to like the Soul cycle, it's just too underpowered compaired to the Titans. Did you get any good pulls out of M15 so far? I opened the new Jace foil, from a sealed event. I immediately traded it away because that card seems terrible! Anyways maybe this thread will get some love
Heh. The general opinion is that the souls suck and you should groan whenever you pull them The rest of M15 is great though. Can't wait to draft it some more. I opened four pain lands at the prerelease. Two of them were a Battlefield Forge and a foil Battlefield Forge in the same pack (pretty much everyone in the store was screaming WHAT ARE THE ODDS). The sad part is, this meant there weren't that many playable rares and the rest of my pool was just straight up jank, so I got curb-stomped in all of my rounds. I didn't care though, I was having a lot of fun. I plan on buying a Fat Pack tomorrow because I like the box art that much, and hopefully I'll pull a Sliver Hivelord because I'm brewing an EDH deck around it. What formats do you play?
The formats I play are : Draft/Sealed Standard - Mono Blue Devotion ( This was pre-M15 not sure what I'm gonna play now, probably a brew) Modern - Living End Combo EDH - Rubina Soulsinger ( Bant good stuff ) As for Legacy and Vintage I'd like to get into Legacy but it's just too expensive. I will never have plans to play Vintage unless I won the lottery Lmao. Block constructed seems cool but literally no one at my LSG plays it. So what formats do you play?
I play sealed/draft too. I own one casual Gruul deck, but my focus is on EDH. I have a Prossh tokenspam deck and a Roon blink deck focusing around Terastodon and Deadeye. My next deck will be a Sliver Hivelord deck with a bunch of mass removal. As for standard, until I can get a Co-op position, it'll be too expensive for me. Once I get a job I might re-enter the competitive scene again. I briefly played RDW then Maze's End in the Innistrad-RTR season of standard and in a bit of the current season. Maze's End is just too (un)fun of a deck to play; I mainboarded 18 Fog-type cards and was pretty much unbeatable against any midrange and aggro deck.
A recent resurgence in MTG popularity at my school has gotten me to start playing again, so I'll bump the thread. Embrace your inner geek, people.
Probably even more so now that there was a recent South Park episode revolving around chickens playing Magic: The Gathering. I'm not ashamed in saying that that episode made me want to pick up learning and playing MTG. Very entertaining episode despite me knowing absolutely nothing they were talking about.
Two options for anyone who wants to start playing Magic: Watch the Spellslingers series on Youtube, presented by Day[9]. This does a great job of teaching the basics - in fact the first episode features someone who's never played Magic before. Walk into a local game store that sells Magic products (your best bet are the ones with giant glass cases of cards) and tell them you're new and would like some help getting started. It's worked for some of my friends, and generally store owners and workers are really nice people. Make sure you do this sometime like a weekday afternoon when there's less people.
was really into mtg before i discovered royals, now i don't really play anymore but i follow it so i am somewhat up to date i mostly played modern. had a ub fae deck, burn, and playsets of some staples which i plugged in random janky, fun decks. i remember before i stopped playing i was trying to foil out my ub fae deck. i'd try to trade up to cards as much as possible so i wouldn't have to spend cash. i was missing some lands and 2 vendilion cliques. it's a blast to play but the meta's changed so much now i'm not sure how it would hold up
I basically only play limited/kitchen table. I kinda want to get into modern but don't really have anyone to play with. My LGS closed down recently cause the owner was ill
