Shadow Shifter causes you to automatically make the F2 expression when it triggers. This is kinda funny at first, but soon you realize that it adds a lot of social awkwardness to many situations: me, doing a boss run: "buyer dc'd, rip" shadow shifter: me, hitting a few monsters before realizing that it's someone else's map: "sorry" shadow shifter: So I'd like Shadow Shifter instead tried to use whatever expression is assigned to F2 upon activating, and did nothing if there is no facial expression bound to the key. Benefits: -I don't have to make a facial expression at all if I don't want to -I can make shadow shifter use other expressions like F3 or Bleh or Ouch if I want Drawbacks: -devalues people who have rebound all their F keys but still want to use F2 specifically during shifter (do those people even exist?) -need to bind the actual F2 expression to some other key if I want to use it in other situations -not sure if actually possible If this is in fact possible, I also want to be able to reassign F1 upon taking damage, because the Ouch expression is much funnier than F1.
This is a nonissue in my opinion. There's no value in reworking this mechanic of shadow shifter. If it is reworked, I would not mind either.

you are thinking too much but if you care about that I recommend you to use this. also this hat saves cost for using face/hair change.
gonna bump this because I discovered that some donor faces look extremely bad when you hit F2. like the mouth is misaligned and you look like you're about to eat a baby. face looks great if you don't ever hit F2, but thanks to shadow shifter you will always be making that face. I have no intention of covering my face with a teddy bear head. frick off least you can do is improve the cosmetic experience for people who paid actual money for their cosmetic experience
I think it's a cool idea, back when I was a noob I thought shads and nls were overly friendly and emoting during boss runs I never made that connection until I actually made one lmao I've asked about the possibility of being able to do this, and the good news is that we technically can; but it would have to be a set expression like it already is with F2. There's no way we could create a custom window to allow players to customize their static Shadow Shifter emote on their own without a custom client. I think it's petty iconic regardless, I don't know how I'd feel personally about swapping the F2 out. If it did happen it would be a change that affects everyone.
Technically you can still F2 manually if shadow shifter procs. Once in a while, if you want. The following video accurately captures how I feel about F2 activating every single time shadow shifter activates. I would much prefer if shifter didn't change your expression at all. I don't know much about how the game works internally but I would be shocked if this wasn't possible.
I noticed that this was moved to the "Not Possible" section. In which case I'd like to ask: would it be possible to not make any expression at all? I understand that this is a different suggestion entirely, but I really, really do not like how F2 looks. Anyone who currently enjoys the F2 can use it manually once in a while if they want to be funny, even if this is changed. I don't see the value in forcing people to emote other than "nostalgia", if a 4th job skill can even be called nostalgic in a game that was infamous for its absurdly low exp rate that caused many if not most people to never reach 4th job
Yes it probably could be removed, but it would be a client edit which would affect all players and would not be possible to be made optional. I personally feel that the F2 is quite iconic to the skill, and that it would be a shame to permanently remove it from the skill for everyone.
