Hello. I have yet to decide my main and I finalized yesterday that it comes down to wether this is allowed or not if Im going to play a shadower or corsair instead. The only thing I could find to remotely associate with my question is the following; "The act of using or benefiting from any third-party program, macro program or otherwise defacing or modifying any part of the game software to gain any sort of advantage over other players" I dont see rebinding as getting an advantage over anyone as I would still have to press the exact same amount of keys to get the same result with the standard layout. I was wondering what the exact ruling regarding changing keybindings are? This has nothing to do with obvious 2 inputs in 1 macros or anything like that, simply rebinding, say, alt button to be placed on the F button instead just as an example. My hands get pain easily when I play click heavy stuff (such as path of exile) where I've rebound left mouse to space to avoid pain on my hands Strictly from a keybind perspective when 1 input will always give 1 input and no more, is there anything that isn't allowed to do? Many thanks in advance. ps, if this is the incorrect subforum please move it as I was p.clueless for a question like this.
Yo be honest, as long as you can actively answer you are fine. Even if you were to use a macro program and get prompted by a gm or other player, by replying you should be just fine because you are actively in from of your monitor playing the game
Careful with what you say here. Technically 2 actions with 1 key is considered macroing and is not legal at all. Personally people can probably get away with it if it's not blatantly obvious and doesn't seem robotic, but if you get caught, it would be game over. OP: as far as I know, I heard that you can rebind as long as you aren't doing multiple actions with a single keystroke.
I know and I chose my words carefully. If I were to get caught the first thing the player/gm should do is ask: are you there? If I am able to reply: yes I am here Jackson, then I am proving you I am actively in front of my monitor playing the game, even though using a macro. With that being said, if any staff member wants to clarify feel free to do so
Pretty sure keybinding is safe. I mean, there's a guide to use controller to play MapleStory... and that's a form of keybinding as well, I believe. So I'm quite confident to say it's safe.
