Hi I just found MapleRoyals and Im so happy to return to the wonderful world of Maplestory But I really dont remember the different classes that you can choose. I know thief, warrior, magician, and bowman. But what options come after that? And could you explain them a little?
There are 5 classes, which each can advance into different jobs You already mentioned 4 of them. The last one is Pirate. It was added after the other original 4 ^-^ At level 30 you can choose what job you want! If you chose Thief you can choose either Assassin (uses a claw to throw throwing stars), or Bandit (Uses daggers)! If you chose Warrior you can choose between Fighter (uses swords and axes), Page (uses maces and swords) or Spearman (uses spears (duh), and in rare cases polearms) If you chose Magician you may walk the path of Ice/Lightning Wizard, Fire/Posion Wizard or Cleric! They each use different elements to deal magic damage c: If you chose Bowman you can advance to a Hunter (uses bows), or a Crossbowman (uses crossbows, duh again) And finally, if you chose Pirate you can turn into a Gunslinger (uses guns and bullets), or a Brawler (uses their bare fist and knuckles!) Each class is different and unique from one another, but I hope that this helped a little
Okay thanks! Do any of the warrior advancements use a shield together with the weapon to act more defensive or something? As a magician, will I be able to use both ice and lightning or fire and poison at the same time? Or do I need to specialize in one of either ice OR lightning spells, for example? If IRC, ice/lightning was superior to fire/poison and could do alot more damage. Is this true? Are some class advancements OP and some are bad? Or is the difference insignificant?
If you want to know how each class functions in end game or 4th job, here are the basics: Assassins (Night Lord) use their throwing stars to deal high damage to a single mob at a time. Makes them really great at bossing! Shadow Clone is a skill that summons a clone who follows your every move, helping you deal amazing damage! Also has the best mobility in game with Flash Jump. Bandits (Shadower) swing their daggers around to deal multiple lines of damage to one or more mobs. Pretty good for grinding. And definitely one of the strongest classes in 3rd job due to Meso Explosion. It often has to use a combination of multible skills to be the most effective, due to short cooldowns on some skills. Makes it fun and unique to play! Fighters (Hero) uses 1- or 2 handed swords or axes. They are extremely strong, both grinding and bossing wise, which is probably why it's the most popular warrior class. Its combo orbs floating around it combined with Brandish makes it the best warrior damage wise. Page (Paladin) is a tanking class. It doesn't have the highest damage, and is pretty rare to see. Got the highest defense of all though, and can be pretty flashy and cool. Definitely gains some respect from people if you manage to level it to end game! Spearman (Dark Knight) Is a both supportive and an attacker class! It has Hyber Body, which boosts everyone in the party with 60% more hp/mp! So it's often wanted for parties or boss runs. You get your main attacking skills in 3rd job, which makes it easier to level than the other two warriors. Ice/Lightning Wizard (Ice/Lightning Arch Mage) uses ice and lightning to deal damage to mobs. Mages are best known for their amazing ability to grind late game. I/L mage gets blizzard as their ultimate in 4th job, which is basically raining ice cycles that hit up to 15 mobs on your whole screen and freezes them up. It's amazing and fun to play with its ability to freeze the whole map! Fire/Posion Wizard (Fire/Posion Arch Mage) uses fire and poison to deal high damage to mobs. It's the strongest of the 3 mages, but funny enough the rarest. Its ultimate is the Meteor Shower, as you can imagine, shots down flaming rocks on 15 monsters in the map. It's also the strongest mage for bossing, even though none of them are very good in solo target damage. Cleric (Bishop) is by far the most popular mage class, and likely the most popular class in the game. Mostly for the fact that a lot of people make one without maining it. It's this popular cause of the skill Holy Symbol or "HS". Makes you get 1.5x exp! It's most effective in a party of two. This is what makes the class the best for "leeching" others, or taken on boss runs cause of its supportive skills. Its ultimate it called Genesis, and deal amazing holy damage to 15 mobs on your screen. Bowman (Bow Master) is the most popular archer. It's a great class for bossing cause of its lightning fast shooting "Hurricane". It also has a skill in 4th job called Sharp Eyes, which raises the chance to deal critical damage to yourself and everyone in your party. Very much wanted for parties! Crossbowman (Marksman) is a pretty rare class, but should not be underestimated! It has a lot of of the same skills as Bowman, including Sharp Eyes, so it's wanted for parties too. It has Snipe instead of Hurricane though, which deals an incredibly amount of damage to a single monster. It has a 15 seconds cooldown though (5 seconds when new source comes out). Gunslinger (Corsair) is a very unique class. It's a challenge to level it to 120, and is pretty weak, but when you finally get to 4th job, you get rewarded handsomely! It's one of, if not the best, single target damage per minute classes! You're able to board your very own battleship, which has a cannon that deals amazing damage! Watch out though. The ship has its own hp, and if you get hit enough times it'll break, and you have to wait for the 90 seconds cooldown to pass, to board it again. Corsair is also quite mobile when you're not aboard on your boat. Skills like Wings and Recoil shot makes you able to float and shoot yourself through the air! Brawler (Buccaneer) is a very "closeup, badass" class! It kinda has some features from the warrior, as it has very short range, and is able to withstand some hits from mobs and bosses. It deals pretty decent damage and is very unique. Also has some great party buffs such as Speed Infusion, which makes everyone in the party faster, and Time Leap. You also have the ability to transform yourself into a super saiyan to deal even more damage. Fighter and Page can choose to go 1-handed! And if so, it's normal to have a shield by your side. Not alone to act more defensive, but also to add weapon attack. If you're an Ice/Lightning mage, you're able to use both ice lightning, and likewise with Fire/Posion. As an I/L you'd usually use your ice ultimate the most, and your chain lightning to finish off mobs or bossing. Same goes for F/P. You don't need to specialize in one or the other, but you get to choose which elemental wand/staff you want to buy, which boosts that specific elemental damage. Ice/Lightning deals less damage than Fire/posion. But some might still consider it superior (including myself), due to its ability to freeze. They both deal a lot of damage though, so it's not that noticeable Of course some classes are stronger than other, which is why there are favourites. A hero would destroy a Paladin in terms of damage per minute, and likewise a Night Lord vs Shadower. But each class has its own advantages And it's up to you to choose what fits you ^-^
In general, shields are scrolled for ATT and are used when you have a one-handed weapon. They are used to make up for the lower base attack damage you would otherwise have in a 2 handed weapon. Defense really isn't considered much in this game, or at least, in this version of the game, as DEF makes very little difference in practical game situations. You would need to specialize! Elemental advantages are the key to answering your last question, so each class definitely has advantages in different places in the game.
Thank you very much for all the information So a fire/poison wizard would do more dmg to fire-vulnerable enemies and less dmg to others?
Ya, fire/posion do more damage to ice enemies using fire skills, and less damage to fire enemies. And vice versa with ice/lightning
If I become a mage, should I max out the MP boost thing to get the most mana later on? Or is this changed?
If you're talking about Improved MaxMP Increase, then yes That should be one of the first skills you max
