So I've been recently farming a map for certain items but there is a certain individual who is constantly cycling through channels to refresh ~mapowner with his name. Now he has about 10-15 maps at any given time that he is "owner" of, under the one character. Now once I'm on the channel and I start killing he will cc onto the channel after a few minutes and will inevitably tell me to CC before he reports me. Now, if he has 10-15 maps under the same character and I were to kill mobs could I potentially get banned for "KS-ing."
The general rule of thumb is if he can retain all 15 channels' map ownership, then yes, you'll have to CC if he asks you to. But it really depends. We haven't received KS reports of such nature before.
I have no authority to answer the question, but I can share my opinion because to some extent, it's us players who agree upon the rules. I'd say no, you shouldn't be able to get banned for such a thing. A player claiming all the maps like this, could potentially rendering a map useless for others, by occupying every single channel. This would make the game extremely frustrating and boring for others (the occupier probably gets happy - in the end he will have a private server with only himself, when all quit) Now, I see why people tend to resort to this kind of behavior searching for bosses such as Bigfoot. The question I want to ask them is: While you're technically playing according to the rules, do you find this behavior ethical, and if you do, is this the kind of play style you want the rest of the players to use as well? What I would do in your case is ask the occupier which channel of the map is free, and ask if you may grind/farm/whatever in that map uninterrupted. Unless it comes to bossing, then I can't help you...
