There are a few things about this particular patch and the new source in general that I'd like to address. The short version of this is: Make hair, face, and fast travel coupons purchasable with mesos Bring back an FM warp feature of some kind Bring back the @bosshp command First, I think both style changes and the fast travel ticket should be purchasable with meso so players have more options to buy these items and also so they can act as a meso sink and not just a NX sink. Especially in the case of hair and faces, not many people are going to want to risk NX to attempt to get REG hair and eyes now that that option is gone. As for the FM button, I realize Matt is set on keeping that gone for the sake of balance and nostalgia, but can't you at least compromise on this? The feature was an important part of getting connected with the community and helped it become as lively as it did, and I think it really could serve that use again given the state of the server. If mule usage is such a problem, you can easily curb it by disabling the use of buffs, or skills as a whole inside the FM. And if you're really set on keeping the event button, an @fm command or maybe even a custom return scroll that can be bought would both be decent alternatives in my opinion. And last, I hope to see @bosshp come back. It's great that we have working HP bars now, but that isn't sufficient for HSing Zak arms and HT's main body as no bar exists and the bar applies to all parts, respectively. For the sake of player convenience I hope you'll consider bringing this function back, or even giving those individual parts their own HP bars. Though I think I speak for a number of people when I say I'd prefer @bosshp, as it has an added use of checking for area bosses like BF in a map quickly.
I thought the idea was to introduce HP bars to all bosses (even those that did not have it in GMS), so we could get rid of the @bosshp command, in an attempt to have as few commands as possible. I think the strive towards having virtually no custom commands weighs pretty heavily in this case. Quite a few reasonable (subjective) suggestions for QoL commands have been denied in the past because of this. I can understand why, though.
I really agree with the hairstyles for mesos. I personally spent a good 50m if not more getting my rising rockstar hair on my nl. People are just going to now buy vip and everyone will look the same. If anything at least make REG hairstyles purchasable with mesos. The FM thing as much as I would love to come back, I don't see it coming back. They don't want to add more commands to make it more GMS-like as they have stated before. That being said, I don't think the bosshp command needed to be removed. I believe that if we wanted a server that was 100% gms like, we would just play gms. A private server needs to be unique and have unique features. It's what makes it stand out. The more GMS-like the server becomes the more plain it becomes. But hey, just my 2 cents.
I would personally love them back as well, but this was discussed a few months ago and in summarization, we aren't getting them back. The bosshp command had something to do with compatability or something, I can't remember. FM button was something that was abused and made the game too easy for certain things, Matt mentioned how he wanted to remove it long ago, but public popularity made him leave it. Purchasing NX for mesos is something he wanted to avoid because he wants to mainstream the currency for NX. Probably encourage more voting, make NX worth more? Could be wrong about reasons, but it's as good as I can remember
If I may, for a second... Some of the things I would really like to see get returned, if possible, are 1) The return of the ~buyback command, and 2) The ability to purchase potions in amounts greater than 100. Both of these functions are important and essential to the game. Addressing the first suggestion, the ~buyback command would eliminate the problem with players accidentally NPCing their hard earned equipment. I don't remember the person's name, but I recall reading an issue where a person NPC'd over 2b worth of INT gear and there was nothing anybody could do to return it to the player. Situations like that can be avoided entirely if players were just more careful in their NPC selections but sometimes accidents genuinely happen. Players should not be punished for accidents that occur. It discourages continued play. Additionally, if this command was reinstated, it would potentially free up some of the GM's time reading and responding to such concerns in the forums. My second issue is the most important point I would like to make with this post. There is absolutely no advantage in allowing players to only purchase potions in increments of whatever can fit into one stack (100, 150). The ability to buy a large sum of potions from vendors quickly was a wonderful thing to have in the game. Running to NLC to grab Ginger Ale's in bulk and quickly returning to what you were doing was very convenient. With the limitation of only one stack at a time, players have to manually type "100" many times and it slows down the pace of the game, for no real purpose other than "nostalgia." While nostalgia is the reason I play this server, there is absolutely nothing nostalgic about only being able to buy potions in increments of 100. Same with completing the Alcaster's quest. Going through multiple lines of dialogue many different times over and over is just repetitive and once again, serves absolutely no purpose other than to be cumbersome and annoying. In conclusion, if GM's and Dev's could please seriously consider the reimplementation of the above listed features for not only convenience, but for time saving reasons above, I'm positive the community would be grateful. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Not having Hair Coupons buy able for meso is pretty silly to me. I understand the desire to try and make NX have more value, to have players make more decisions when it comes to their NX instead of only ever have their NX saved strictly for Gach. But I dont feel like this is the right way. If at a bare minimum, remove the EXP coupons and just roll the hairstyles into the VIP ticket, if not completely drop the NX price and make them purchasable with Meso again.. I remember once when I tried to obtain the Jane's Hair from Ludi. I spent over 50$ on EXP coupons trying to obtain it. I know that's extremely unlikely but it happend to me, and it will happen to players here. That's not something id like to go through again. Ever. I'm pretty sure this version of the game had the ability to rebuy things you accidentally sold. Like the vendors themselves had a buyback tab that let you rebuy stuff you accidentally sold. Why that doesn't exist here is beyond me. And as for the potions, I would assume you're referring to the NLC vendor. I for some reason think i heard the potion thing wasn't a permanent change, they just went with the default numbers for that vendor for the time being. I may be mistaken however.
