I'm sure this has been suggested before, but I really think we need more maps to train on post level 60. There is such a large number of mobs and maps post 60, but none of them come close to the same spawn rate or XP gain per hour as Ghost Ship. As a result there is an overflow of players who wind up getting congested at Ghost Ship and tempers flare up due to how sparse namely Ghost Ship 2 maps are. Players arent just here for a few levels and then off to better places, its expected to get you to level 75 when you can then start to leech Wolf Spiders. FoG is a slight alternative, but for many classes like Hunters or Assasins, the spawn rate is so high they cant possibly attack, so FoG is better suited for mobbing classes like Warriors or Bandits who can just spam Savage Blow.

There used to be loads of other options like Windraiders and Captain and Kru on GMS. I leveled several classes back during the period Royals takes place on, and only ever trained at MP3 of all places, not even Ghost Ship itself for a couple levels. Ghost ship was never what it was as it is on here. Heck even Voodoo/Hoodoo was a great place on GMS, but their spawns rates on Royals are pretty low and are not a very good alternative. In the case of Windraiders they are not only extremely painful to actually get to their maps but their spawn rate isnt worth the trip.

When new source hits, and we all expect more players to come with the more stable enviroment, these already congested maps will only get worse. We need more options if for no other reason than to help those of us avoid burning out on grinding the same map on multiple characters.

Edit: Meant for the Level to be 60+ not 50+

Though I'm not near that level, I like the idea a lot.

Have you tried Ludibrium clocktower? The spawn for monsters there is pretty good and should be applicable to level 60+

Their spawn and XP/HP ratio is abysmal. Only thing notable there are level 85+ which aren't exactly for most 60+ players.

I'd agree that we're not exactly spoilt for choice for really great mobs to grind at from lvl 60 - lvl 80. When you're around lvl 80-ish, the choice starts to widen, but for those levels just coming up to 3rd job and just starting out with your 3rd job skills, the choice is a little limited. I ended up doing lvls 60-70 at Coolies on my then-Cleric (for nostalgia too, but mainly to avoid the ghostship and still level up ok). If these were at regular spawn, this wouldn't have been even a viable option. However, they're currently double spawn. On my Spearman, I did a mixture of Coolies, Quests, GS5 and Mr Anchor.

    ...particularly the XP/HP ratio! >_<

There's Plenty of other level 60+ spots like Ant Tunnel, Showa, Kappas, Mu Lung, the Perion skeleton forts, El Nath, FoG, etc
Sure, they're not as good as Ghost Ship, but they're still viable
There's literally no rush to 70 and this is a nostalgia server; shouldn't the grind be part of the "nostalgic experience"?

I guarantee if people started going to any of the alternative maps when Ghost Ship is full, there'd be a lot more progress and a lot less sodium over not being able to grind because your preferred map is occupied on every channel

What bothers me is that the spawn rate in Ghost Ship is so far off from what it was like in GMS. You would think that the great exp/hp ratio of the GS mobs would justify a lower spawn rate, but nope. I've been proposing a lowered spawn rate in GS all along, but have gotten little to no support. It's like when Riot Games buffs all underpowered champions instead of nerfing the op ones. Oh well.

I found training there to be just fine on my assassin, and you can do the start of the clocktower quests while you are there which helps a bit. Coolies like Kat mentioned is quite a good alternative as well and even the Orbis exchange quest with the teeth gives a nice little exp boost.

You could train at locations meant for levels 40s and be 'just fine'. That's not what @Enticing is addressing. He's talking about various alternatives that can match or at least come close to Ghost Ship 2. While he might not have said it outright, that was his intention when he discussed with me to create this thread.

Turning in Orbis Etc on a level 60+ is just throwing away time and money. You're literally better off dropping all of it than trekking all the way back to Orbis and turning them in.

In that case, ignoring and quests or exchange quests that go along with other locations, no there isn't anywhere that gives the same exp/min. I was just explaining that from personal experience, I have been able to get pretty close to the same EXP from the locations I mentioned, and without having to spend time looking for a free channel. So what if using orbis exchange items on a level 60+ is a waste? If you want exp it's fine, and with using Dead Mine and Orbis scrolls it takes a very little amount of time to hand them in for some additional free EXP.

Agreed. unless its somehow super difficult to change an enemies exp, might as well boost the exp given of some monsters, like the ones in ludi tower (there was a good thread on this). If this comes down to the whole nostalgia stuff again, wouldn't making ludi a hotspot for training do just that?

idk, i avoid GS2 like the plague. Not to mention having that be the onyl good option really pigeonholes the sort of drops that come onto the market.

Not that I disagree with the point of the thread, but I don't see why people act like GS2 has no alternatives. GS2 full? Go to GS5, 6, or even MP3. It may not match 2, but the exp is more than fine to train on. Just like Skelegons; it's better than nearly everywhere else and always full as a result, so I go to Ulu/ToT instead.

To the person that mentioned Windraiders, I admit I was appalled when I made the trek up there and saw the spawn was barren. That place used to be like our GS2 on official servers.

Have you seen the spawn rate at MP3? The size of the map and the amount of spawn don't justify grinding there in my opinion. Ghost Ship 6 falls under the abysmal XP/HP ratio of Ludibrium.

If anything nerf Gs2, that map stands out in exp.
With the new source coming it's possible there will be a few new areas to train like Crimson keep.
Windraiders are good exp, only that before the new source there isn't a Windraider only map.

Is the problem that there isn't any good place to train 60-75?
There is pq's and will probably be more pq's for that level later.
There are quests to do and will be a lot more working quests in the new source.

Also I like that one map is better than others but you have to be lucky to get one, you can either enjoy the game or stay in one map endlessly train because better exp.

On the topic of PQ's, I suppose Orbis PQ when fixed properly in the new source may also be good which is aimed for levels 51-70. And then there's also Magatia PQ once added which is aimed for levels 71-85.

Edit: Also forgot Pirate PQ, aimed at levels 55-100.

This thread is about adding more options for efficient training at level 60+. This thread isn't for suggestions other than that. If you want to suggest the nerf of gs2, I suggest you making a new thread. And I'm pretty sure they will look into it as they always do.

This whole thread has one argument Ghost Ship, you want to buff other maps instead of the much easier suggestion that would be to nerf a map , that way make other options viable.

Because the underlying issue is still there. Lets say that GS2 does get nerfed.
    • Ludibrium will still be bad
    • Ghost Ship 6 will still be bad
    • Herb Town maps will still be bad
    • Magatia maps will still be bad
Rather than further limiting us from a map, why not improve content that already exists?
