My college is hosting a photo contest to the students annndd they're only allowing each student a sole photo submission. The deadline is October 24th so I have plenty of time to choose but, I'm super indecisive. SO, I am looking for everyone else's opinions. These are some of the photos I snagged whilst visiting London roughly two weeks ago now: 1. 2. 3. 4. **CONSTRUCTIVE Criticism is more than welcome. There is a difference between being helpful and being a dick. I really appreciate the quick look! Please choose your 'favorite' or most likable by voting on the poll. Thanks a bunch! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ Disclaimer: In no way do I think I'm a "professional" (apparently I need to make this bigger), I just thought I took some pretty nice pictures and I've seen signs up all over campus for the photo contest and figured: Why not try submitting one? If anyone's seriously interested in entering a photo contest themselves, I know this company has apparently done it for, 35 years? http://pfmagazine.com/photography-contest/ It's open to college and high school students worldwide, each submission is 4.95USD though. A submission/participation by an individual the US + Canada at least gets a 'free' issue of their magazine. Coffee table worthy magazines. hue hue.
Voted for number 3 as well. Love how the light composition kinda separates the two images of the statue a little bit.
Voted #1 since its the only one that doesn't rely heavily on the art of others yet still maintains a very interesting composition. I would personally toy around with the contrast of it a bit though to get the colours to pop even more.
None. They're bland - lacks texture, overused themes, poor lighting, angles are awkward. All of them demonstrate poor technical skills. #1 is the least bad out of the bunch.
Well that escalated rather quickly. O.0 I don't know anything about photography so I guess the best I can do is that I hope you'll do the best you can and wish you good luck with the competition. :3
They all speak of the same, but they all eventually succumbed to the darkness! EDIT: Behold, the one who shall rule them all.
I didn't give it as an excuse, I'm simply stating that in no way shape or form do I think they're up to a professional level so that my photos won't exactly be held at such a high standard. That doesn't give you the right to be a dick and then attempt justifying it by saying your time is precious and that I should be appreciative that you even lifted a few fingers to comment. As my first post says, there's a difference between being helpful and a complete dick. Constructive Critisism: Constructive criticism is the process of offering valid and well-reasoned opinions about the work of others, usually involving both positive and negative comments, in a friendly manner rather than an oppositional one. The purpose of constructive criticism is to improve the outcome. Thank you for your "constructive criticism". Me posting them on the forums had nothing to do with "showing off" it was me asking for aid on a photo to pick, which is what my original post entails, as you should have read. I honestly don't see what I could possibly get out of 'showing off' my amateur pictures to the mapleroyals community. EDIT: Let me also add that the prize is just "Here is the winning photo" in the school paper. I HIGHLY doubt their standards are held really high for something like that.
When I voted I felt like I had bad taste. Everyone was voting for 2 3 and 4;; where were you guys #1 supporters? Best of luck Christine
You need to stop trolling this thread. On topic: Looks like the poll is too close to call between #1, #2, and #3 Christine. It comes down to your choice again
I like number one. That picture gave me a lowkey sense of steam punk and how thing can change but also stay the same.
I admit to a little bit of Londoner bias in my vote - I just loved how #1 really captured that "London" feel.
I pick number 3 & 4. Reason being is that the photos kinda gives a message to the audience in a sense. If you take any further pictures you should research on the "rule of thirds". When you get comfortable with that, then you can take photos that makes the eye naturally view the whole photo. (hard to explain really). Other than that, quality photos and good luck!
As suggested by Sven **, I messed with the contrast of the original image (#1) in photoshop. I think it looks a lot better than the original. Original ☟
