Hello there, IslandSlut here, duh. I've recently written up a timeline of all the events that have ever been relevant to islanders, you can find it in my main thread here under the Island Drops section. I'm not certain if the upcoming anniversary event as it pertains to Islanders specifically has already been formulated, either way I wanted to give my suggestions as to how you could make this one a good one for Islanders this year. In early GMS anniversary events island monsters of the time were dropping every kind of maple weapon, the ones which were of particular note to islanders (due to their beginner job requirement) were: Maple Shield Maple Sword Maple Soul Singer So far as nostalgia on the island is concerned original islanders did have access to these items. As far as balance is concerned the Blue Valentine Rose and Maple Umbrella are statistically far better, so these would only be for aesthetic purposes. I know of no-one on the island now or who has ever been on the island who would object to these items being introduced. So if you could please make all island mobs drop these three equips (perhaps with a decent rarity) I guarantee islanders would absolutely love it. Maple Glory Sword (Although we never got this on Maple Island in GMS because it only dropped from higher level creatures than those available on the island it still would be amazing for high levelled islanders like Chokladkakan and NPCs, even if it's statistically beaten by faster weapons) Also if we could also collect candles and turn them in for prizes I have some nostalgic and practical suggestions that would really spice up the island. Maple Hat Maple Flag Red Maple Bandana Yellow Maple Bandana Blue Maple Bandana White Maple Bandana Also since in the last anniversary event candle prices were not scaled down for islanders and it was intensely hard to acquire even basic prizes can we please have last years prizes available too? 2nd anniversary maple earrings? 2nd anniversary maple leaf? 2nd anniversary maple scarf? Maple Bandana X? I would ask for maple cape and maple gloves but unfortunately these do not appear to be present in this version, kinda sad, perhaps in the future when we move up a version! Thanks for considering! Like this post if you agree!
If we were to ever have a boss appear on island the +35 accuracy from that sword would most likely make it easier for strlanders to hit said boss.
Wouldn't a boss ruin the feeling of being an Islander? I don't have a high-level Islander myself, but I thought that that's just part of the Islander life. Great idea, by the way. It would certainly be a status symbol for Islanders, even though Maplemas Lights are still the better weapon due to the attack speed, of course. +1
If the amount of candles were lower for islanders, I'd just make an islander to get all the items. So, I'd see that being an issue.
For the christmas and halloween events, the amounts required for islanders were lower, but proportionally lower such that it was still less effective to farm the items on them than on any average 4th job char, let alone a 4th job mage. I'm sure that's the kind of thing the OP meant.
That'd be really awesome, and it'd be a good reason for me to start playing on my Islander again Spoiler
Really throwing a boss on an island doesn't destroy it's purpose. Depending on the bosses meaning, and drops is what could destroy the meaning. I've seen people throw King Slime on the Island, making it rarely drop the slime shoes which doesn't break the island, it puts up a challenge and drops an item that appeals to only those who lack access, like us. I like the idea of having the anniversary event this way, maybe another idea is possibly giving the top 3 Islanders access of obtaining the level 70 Maple Helm would be cool.
Some might argue that a specifically designed and tailored island boss would break the vanilla / nostalgic appeal of the Island but to this I argue that we've already broken that with items like Maplemas Lights, various chairs, Pumpkin Hat etc. One reason why I look forward to a boss being designed for the island is so that I have yet another thing to be training towards: beating a big baddie with other islanders. Such a thing encourages community and co-operation and an end game worth working towards. The boss would probably just drop one of each basic scroll already available on island, perhaps red and green skullcaps and fruit knives (stuff which should've already been available to islanders), and would have to be hard enough that with three islanders beating it would take something like 15-20 minutes. Though you're right about maplemas lights being an effective weapon for islanders ultimately the Maple Umbrella beats it in terms of raw speed and many of us have these umbrellas. The reason why our event item costs need to be lowered in order to allow us to buy all the prizes in the alooteed time period is because off island jobbed classes have the advantage of large fuller maps and mobbing (multi hit) abilities which allow them to farm these things on much large scales than we can. I don't think it has ever been a viable strategy to make an islander and gather the equipment just to send it to Victoria for some reason.
Considering that probably 1/3, if not more, of the community has a Mage with an Ultimate skill, it'd be fair to lower prices for Islanders. Even other classes possess mobbing skills; even NLs and Sairs.
This is sorta of off topic, but I just made an islander, got it to almost 11, the game then crashed and put me back at level 9. Yay -.-
