New Official Damage Range Thread ?

So, as last thread owner, I feel I have duty to stop this drama , played so long never think I'll be on meme thread one day Hahahah
I actually dk ppl so serious about that thread

Reason:
Buz current damage thread , many old players photo link gone , and can't understand what weapon they using, can't see if any time-limit items , can't category
Thread real too old, can't match the current royal meta also.
I suggest we should have a new thread

If ppl vote yes>no
New thread will have New category and Clear rules, trying not to be MEME thread
Current thread just stick on top for glory

If ppl vote No>Yes
I wish the new current thread owner can find out a better solution, I actually can't

I think the only MW rule is kinda nonsense too, if you have haste or booster or mount or something it won't affect your range anyway

When you use an atk pot or echo the range changes color to red, if it's black it means it's unchanged

 

Feels kind of weird to kill such an old thread because there's been one big argument in six years and one class is getting posted with a non-bis weapon that gives more range. Clean range isn't a true measure of dps anyways. What about nls getting range from dex which doesn't affect tt? Or things like MoN vs HTP, where optimising for range can give you lower apple damage (as Tim mentions for his sair).

I agree with this, we will ultimately face backlash if we don't show some kind of respect to the legacy of the old thread. I'd link the old thread just so people can see previous ranges and such. It's definitely a thread we should keep archived.

This "drama" is overblown, a few people getting angry over numbers in 2005 mushroom game need to chill out. Just keep the old thread.

 

For someone who was the ex thread owner at one point and went awfully quiet, this is my one off and only insight and perspective on the old thread...

Do I think a new thread is called for? No.

The mudslinging will never stop, Jealousy is a powerful tool, borrowed gear? "traded" gear? It'll still remain. Branching out the categories will only make the thread owner work doubly hard and for what? People to shit on and disrespect the rules anyway.

Yes, I actually admit I gave up and literally abandoned the thread altogether. Yes I was starting to get busier in life but the burden making such heavy decisions was too much for me, I no longer wanted anything to do with it.

When you as the owner are forced to take a side, people will disagree with you anyway.

With that out of the way, let's address the issues of the range thread:

1. Using *Non-optimal* weapons for range

The issue people have here is the objective of the thread. What range is based upon is your total weapon attack, your base and your secondary stats, and of course your weapon. There is no reason for anyone to limit themselves in any of those categories. The thread is for the player to showcase their range, not their potential DPS (so many more arguments can be made about when to use htp, mon, etc etc.) If you want to be as objective as possible, there really shouldn't be any limits to what can be done, despite all the inappropriate memes which have been popping up. However this leads to....


2. Using borrowed/unionized gear

Could you lend me gear so I can post my beautiful but fake range? There's no way this can be enforced unless you're literally called out in the thread, and even so its gonna be a slugfest as well (look what happened previously). hehexd wapleroyals There is actually have a solution for this and it boils down to the simple fact of having integrity. Did you guys think I wanted to reject people for using shared gear? No. I could've simply minded my own business and easily added any submission and played ignorant. However, there is a underlying matter of pride at stake, at what point do you actually listen to the call-outs of borrowed gear and make a decision? Also, unionized gear. Yikes. Borrowstory amirite? I personally feel the simple fact that having a combined effort to reach a higher objective is unfair to players who worked on their sole individual efforts. But then there's always the undiscussed element of giftstory which is again, impossible to discredit as the items already belong to the new owner, does that make it unfair?

3. Trading gear for the simple sake of the objective

This really was such a bandaid fix, but the actions bear so much heavier implications. To the person who did this, was this handled the appropriate way? People can tell what you did was personal, I don't intend to take sides but please consider the implications of your actions. That's as much as I can say on the recent incident.

So with the three main issues in mind, does creating a new thread resolve anything? I personally do not see how it would. It comes down to the issue of enforcement which let's face it, is everyone's part to play.

What people have posted should be preserved, not relegated and considered the "past". It is the massive collection of range screenshots which makes the thread in the first place. This is my plea, let things cool off and go back to the status quo, there really is no need to start off from square one. Not everything is about reaching number 1

Lastly, regarding the rule "keeping only maple warrior 20 as buff", I don't see what is so HARD about this rule people seem to simply not want to abide with. For the sake of pure consistency would you not want your screenshot to be neatened too?

Hey everyone, I'm actively processing the feedback given here, in the original thread and from individuals to create an additional set of rules that will hopefully resolve some of the issues highlighted from this recent set of events.

Some of the key issues that will be addressed are:

• Clear guidelines on gear ownership/transferring
• Unions
• Warrior weapon choice
• Multiple submissions

I'll wait till the poll closes and then update the existing thread/create a new one if necessary.
