    For some background, I played Maplestory back when it was in beta for global and then for a while after, quitting right after Zak was released. Had some severe craving for that old school vibe which led me here, but I can't really settle to play the game sub-optimally anymore (i.e. being super casual about it and basically just screwing around grinding) as I really want to push for that sweet, sweet endgame. Problem being, I've got basically no idea what I'm doing. I spent the last few hours browsing around the guides a little bit but some concepts still just make no sense to me (see: HP washing) so I was hoping to get some help on which guides to be reading in what order and some more specific questions I had. Stuff like which are the better classes to do while completely unfunded, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

    Well there are some concepts that are very important like HP washing, it's not necessary to enjoy this game. For starters the best class to start with would be a mage (granted there are a lot of them) (Also note you do NOT have to HP wash a mage). I/L or a Cleric would be your best choices for starting off in this server. While leveling your mage you should go strictly INT based while ignoring LUK. INT scales harder than any mg att item you'll get that requires LUK. End game staves/wands for mages also require no LUK. The reason mages are really useful for this server is because of their huge AOE in 4th job which will allow you leech others and gain high amounts of exp and mesos. Hope that helps you out. If you're curious about other classes just Hit me up in game. IGN: Stalfio :)

    Completely unfunded, please go for jobs like Bishop/IL/AM. That's where I get all my funding from for my NL (or practically any other attacking jobs imo) which requires HP washing (only if you want to be able to tank various bosses without dying/relying on HB).

    Sorry, should be IL or FP AM.

    AM = Archmage.
    IL = Ice Light
    FP = Fire Poison

    Are there any essential early game equips I need to look into getting for leveling? I know some mage equips need luk, but I don't know how to reach the prereqs without leveling luk. I really have no idea what I'm doing :(

    you don't need luk. Get maple staves/wands lvls 35, 43, 64 and 77, for the rest just get common scrolled gear like work gloves (yellow work gloves and red markers also work), bathrobe, green bandana or zhelm, low level earrings, purple cape or any cape scrolled with int, maple shield, etc... all this equips don't need any stat in order to wear them and there are plenty of them being sold around FM, you can also wear low level magician gear if you have some equip that gives you enough luk for them, even if you can't afford them at the moment don't put any point in luk, the extra int you are gonna get for doing this is gonna be more than enough to make up for all the int that luk equips would've given you.
