Firstly, sorry if this is not a bug and if I'm posting on the wrong places but I wasn't too sure where to post.. Secondly, I'm REALLY curious if this is not a bug as to how it's happening.. So, I was leveling my Ranger at Newties.. I was on 2 computers at the same time, HSing with my priest on the other.. For about 15 minutes, I stood on this platform to kill these 2 newties, without moving at all (Except when I would stop casting any more skills). Then I got bored. So I moved my laptop to the bed to lie down and play. I logged off my priest. Suddenly, from that same spot, the newtie started to hit me? I thought I did't position myself correctly and tried many times. But it'd still hit me. Then this random priest came in saying he was leeching his friend too who DC, so he HS me for like 5 min before realising that I was too high lvl for him and he left. During that period of time he HS me, I stood at that same spot, and newtie didn't hit me. But the moment he left that map (or that spot my priest was standing on earlier) it started hitting me again. Just to confirm this theory, I logged back onto my priest and now, the newtie isn't hitting me again.. So basically, I don't get hit if someone is standing beside me? Weird...
That's because in the current source jr newties have 1 player as an aggro target (just like krexel currently has). If that 1 player is out of range of the monster(s), they will not do anything.
I thought about that too. But my Ranger is closer to the Newtie. And my priest is out of range of the newtie. So shouldn't it be targeting my Ranger (who is just standing next to it)??
Assuming as the first aggro target work as in krexel then the first person that enters the map becomes the aggro target. In your case your priest became the aggro target, thus making the newtie aggro your priest instead of your ranger. The only way to switch the aggro to your ranger is by either a) perform enough damage to knock it back which will swap the aggro to you or b) using the monster magnet skill. (Warriors only)
