Hello i am confused to which Thief i want to play. I know hp washing is a must for most classes like Thief's, but I was wondering how NL's hold up without any hp washing. I heard Shadowers have it a lot easier with meso guard because it cuts dmg in half, and hp washing is not a must for most shadowers but they can do it for luxury. Im not crazy funded, nor do i want to waste the time on a bishop just to be funded. I just want to hop right into a Thief (my favorite class) without wasting time. With no hp washing, is the NL class basically unplayable with the amount of hp? Is it not able to boss at any levels? So what i am basically asking here is what Thief class would you recommend.
Hey, I used to have a dilemma similar to yours, I have a priest and wanted to play an NL, but making money for funding your char and hp washing is hard when you don't have a lot of time to play. So I was worried that I'd never end up making one and almost quit. Eventually I decided to start up a sin for fun, and plan to only wash minimally (like 5.6k+ hp or so by 155). If I wouldn't have chosen to play for fun, the pressure from trying to compare myself with the best of the best, stay competitive and wash heavily would've made me be long gone by now. You may have read a lot of people say that hp washing isn't necessary for any bosses on the server. And it seems to be true. There are NLs and BMs who never washed and can do successful HT runs (usually with HB). You just have to kill horntail in an efficient way. Shadowers will live comfortably at bosses without washing at all due to meso guard, but NLs can survive as well with no, or minimal washing. A lot of high hp washing is likely in speculation of an unconfirmed pink bean release. Other than that, it's luxury. Shadowers will blow through a lot of mesos with meso explosion, but the damage for ME doesn't scale with stats. You'd be very strong 3rd and early 4th job, but eventually get outdamaged by other DPS classes in the future. As such, shadowers don't need expensive gear early, but will need amazing gear later to stay competitive. Night Lords will have the better DPS endgame of course. Your character will have more potential for growth (in terms of damage) as you upgrade your claw, and att gear (SCG, cape, fs). In short, you should be fine making an NL now and playing it without washing. Play what you like. Shadower takes more skill to play well, night lord takes more money to play well, thats the gist of it lol
