When you stand on the nest your egg automatically gets used and spawns a big egg on the map, you're meant to hit the egg to hatch it. They don't refund for player mistakes so you're gonna need another egg if you left.
That is not true, I had to drop the egg on the platform last week. I went into Nine Spirit, jumped to where the dragon spawns, no egg appeared and I had nothing to drop.

I unfortunately did not take any screen shots, it was late at night and I was sleepy. Like I said before, I entered the portal, jumped up to the platform and nothing. I will record myself next time I go in; I had no reason to suspect it wouldn't work. I promise I am not trying to cheat the system or anything, but it would be nice to have that egg.
