What's up royals! I haven't played on this server in over a year due to technical problems but thanks to my computer upgrade I plan on being back early next week. I know there has been a huge server update and I was just wondering if there was a thread or page I could read that would pretty much update me on what has changed, other than the exp rate (have been trying to sift through the forums but figured this might be a little easier ) I also read something about doing a quest at lvl 30 that makes your exp rate go from 3.2x to 5x? Can anyone shine some light on this because I couldn't find this quest in the forums. Very excited to be back!!

You're most likely referring to this https://royals.ms/forum/threads/thoughts-on-these-rate-changes.357/. But as stated by dimitri in that thread, it's a four year old thread. Also, it's something that has never been implemented in mapleroyals.
It isn't part of your question but I'd like to point out that we upgraded to the new source first and foremost because the old one was too outdated and buggy. MapleStory private servers are basically all based on some later iteration of the public OdinMS source from back in the day (2008). Royals bar 2017 was no different. New source (also known as new sauce) is built from scratch by the man Kevin (@Karven) himself. Needless to say it allowed us to work towards a system built based on our own needs. The main need there being server (and ultimately translating into game) performance. You don't have to be a very old player to know the lag issues that plagued us . So that's mostly behind the scenes stuff, but it does translate into a very improved overall game experience. I think you'll find that the game runs quite smooth once you return. Aside from that we've tried to keep things as similar to the way old source was in terms of content, though some things are still missing. The main things being horntail, meso explosion, hired merchants (we did release personal shops today!), some usable cash items, some player & GM commands and countless small things that we know new sauce can do, but priorities. Oh and the 3.2x XP rate is to compensate for the v83 exp tables, which are slightly better. In the end you will spend roughly the same amount of time getting to level 200, that's for sure.
