Hello there, I know it's been mentioned a couple times by users, so I would just like to echo their voices by saying that I would love to see the Chimney in the haunted house be opened up. It's always been an available place to grind in other v83 servers, curious as to why it's closed off here? I feel that such a location should be open, free to use because: The Chimney has always been a great go to place for players to grind it out from levels as low as 20 to as high as 90. It's certainly been my go to in the past and as a new player I have found it rather difficult to adapt without it. PQ is a great alternative to grinding at early levels, but being that there's such a wide mix of time zones it can be rather challenging to find a party to PQ with at times. So the addition of the chimney would provide another option when PQ's aren't available just to add some variety to the grinding mix for early levels. It would help new players/characters such as myself advance more easily, giving us more of a shot at having some real fun as we climb towards higher levels. It's always been a thing on v83, so why restrict it? It holds a part of that v83 nostalgia. I feel as though it would be in the servers best interest to have such an area open to use. Even if my request is denied, I would at least like an explanation as to why this spot is off limits to further help me understand how it's in the servers best interest. I'm sure it was a topic that was up for discussion at some point? Why was it decided to restrict players from this location? If leeching is the reason, my argument would be that leeching is something that still exists for lower level players even without the Chimney, so what purpose does having it off limits serve? It's like punishing all for the actions of a few. Plus have you ever been leeched on Zombies and Scarecrows? It's very slow and tedious, definitely not worth it in my humble opinion. I would like for the staff to consider this request, as well as previous players who have made this request in the past. Timer wouldn't be a bad idea, I've even seen some servers nerf party exp for jesters just so it doesn't become a famous leeching map.

I wouldn't mind it, even if it was introduced how its traditionally been. If it were up to me I would nerf mob potential a little (i think i remember them being auto-hostile?), chimney has always been incredibly strong and almost always overshadows traditional training spots.
Most servers that I've seen where leeching was a concern with this map would both nerf the party exp for Jesters & reduce the spawn rate (Also auto-hostile like you mentioned, although I think that's a default for Jesters). That would add some incentive for players to continue training in those traditional spots once these maps get too full. Variety keeps players playing!
they're totally op. individuals couldn't train there, it would be a highly confrontational/sold leech map. if they were nerfed everyone would bitch about the nerf and nobody would go there because they have trash drops. if it was timed like LHC, it would still be OP and would take away all remaining players from cpq2 and ppq and hackers couldn't be monitored, and everyone be in their jester room for an hour/2 each day and it would really stagger other pqs or runs would revolve around players jester times if it was timed and nerfed, nobody would go and there would be 30 more threads complaining about what a pointless addition it was. if i was staff i would see it this way and continue ignoring it. why put time into something so op, or time into something that people will just complain about. its in line with improving broken issues of the game, which would/should have been mended if nexon were forthright or conscious of messy aspects of the game at the time instead of more worried about nx and new classes people just want it cause you can grind like 40+ levels there easy. not very healthy for the overall game or community

People leech, with or without the chimney. Not worth selling leeches if leech party exp is trash. I'm more in favor of a party exp nerf. This would encourage players who are strong enough to train at jesters to do so freely, and discourage higher level players from selling leeches. I understand the concern about taking away players from PQ's. It's a legitimate concern that has shown itself in other v0.83 servers. However, MapleRoyals has the added benefit of being one of the most populated if not most populated Maplestory private server that exists today. We also have the added benefit of actual working party quests! Given those statements and the correct balance of nerfing, I believe the chimney would become nothing more than an addition to the grinding options while maintaining a healthy PQ player base. As for the Hackers, the chimney being opened would most likely attract many of them to these maps. That could ultimately benefit the moderators. These "Hacker hot spots" would allow them to easily find and ban these people. Obviously not a full proof way to find and terminate all the hackers, but it would most likely have a positive impact and help lessen the scope for the GM's. It's been my general observation that feedback is and always has been a welcomed part of the Maple Royals community. Some players may complain about it, but ultimately complaints is what offers opportunity for improvements and most of all help achieve that perfect balance. Honestly, I'm new to this server but I can genuinely say that I appreciate any additions the staff makes in an attempt to make the player base more engaged and satisfied with the server. I'd like to believe that most players feel the same way. Even if some players view it as a "pointless addition", others will see it as "something new!" When there's a variety in the PQ's that you can do and places you can grind players feel like they have more options allowing them to switch things up instead of doing the same mindless grind for hours on end. That's what keeps players playing. That's what makes the staff of Maple Royals different. Given the countless pages of accepted feedback on the forums, it's clear that the staff listens to what their player base has to say and are willing to make changes when enough players are in favor of it. The best part is, they actually make it work instead of implementing some half baked Nexon bug fest. I have faith that they could do the same with this suggestion if given enough support and implemented. "People just want it cause you can grind like 40+ levels there easy. not very healthy for the overall game or community" -I feel like the ultimate goal for any private server is to get their players to play, advance, and ultimately have fun while building a community and backbone of support that gives the staff incentive to keep things up and running. It's no secret the Chimney is a great place to grind, but have you actually grinded there for 40+ levels? It takes time. Arguably as much as PQ'ing and other grinding maps. Killing zombies and scarecrows can be tedious like any other map players grind on. Even jesters can be a pain if you're unfunded and don't have good gear. However it would be nice to have that additional grinding spot. Ultimately Chimney is a big stepping stone to help players get to their 3rd job advancement, but again even with those mobs it takes time. Personally I don't see how this is unhealthy for the overall game or community. It's genuinely a great spot to train for players, and again holds a piece of that V0.83 nostalgia. Given the servers overall popularity, I personally feel that it would only benefit the community while maintaining things like party quests and other grinding maps.
On the contrary, I think if Chimney exp == PPQ/CPQ2 exp, it would be a cool alternative. It would be much healthier for the overall game in comparison to leeching.
It would be fun. Jester's HP:EXP ratio is terrible, you'd rather train at windraider than jester, but chimney map makes it better if you got a party, solo is bad. If people don't want others to leech there, maybe a maximum level cap of 119 can be added Ya'll just don't know how to 50-80 in under 3 hrs.
just to be clear i mean, if i were staff here, royals, i would continue ignoring jesters, for my above reasons. [if you pressed me, i'd give them terrible, boss-like re-spawn, but do something to buff their drops. give them (along w/ other tweaked mobs with very low respawn) some gach quest drops, but either way get rid of gach altogether and reallocate gach items elsewhere i to the game. but that's lil ole me] i (obviously) have no contention with the open feedback forum. its a creative commons for lots of helpful, pragmatic concept discussion that can grow into solutions that fit well into the spirit of the game. jesters were OP and had wild spawn. if they're being considered, lower their exp and spawn and have them drop some decentish items, or hp quest items
Most of your above reasons are totally valid concerns, and as such I really appreciate the feedback as it's concerns like that which help find that perfect balance and create an agreeance (or dis-agreeance) within the community. I can hear you out about the spawn rate. Natively, there is a high number of Jesters on the map so I'm in agreeance that the total number of Jesters should be tweaked just so the map isn't considered OP, however it doesn't make sense to give them boss-like re-spawn times. That would conflict with the purpose of making the area an alternative grinding map for variety purposes. Ideally, as hwaiting mentioned above, I think it would be nice to keep the exp earned somewhat competitive with PPQ or CPQ2. It's been a while since I've returned to the maple world, and maybe this was just something that was on other private servers. But, (Correct me if I'm wrong) I really don't recall Jesters having any loot other than meso and maybe some etc items? I personally saw it as a trade off, it was a good spot to train BUT in a way it became more of an expense (No valuable drops & more mesos spent on pots than earned). I'd purpose keeping it this way just to avoid the map being seen as profitable in both terms of exp and mesos. After all, the end goal is to add to the grinding variety while maintaining a healthy player base for party quests. Also as ImVeryJelly purposed, I feel that a level cap for this map is a great idea. Some might find 119 a little high, I personally feel the sweet spot would be around 90-100. That would be for the Chimney as a whole, not just the Jesters map. How do you guys feel about this?

I'm not a fan of the chimney maps. Its been a long time since I played gms but I recall them being designed in a way that basically made them new leech maps due to how many mobs 4th job mages could hit. They were even really good for 3rd job mages as well. They were just really good overall. These maps would make more current maps irrelevant. I'm OK with these maps if we made 4th job mage ultis unusable in them, nerf the amount of unique spawns or the respawn time or just changed the layout to be more spread out to nerf the new leech meta that would come from this
I think it would be nice if Chimney was only opened up during Halloween events with some adjustments if required.
