I don't really want to make a whole big deal out of the situation or anything, but would like to post this here because it's been kinda bugging me a little. So basically what happened was I was in a horntail party with 6 people. The only parts of HT that were left was head B which had around 2-3% before it was dead along with the two arms. Everyone kept attacking the arms after 2nd warning for some reason beyond me, and I even remember telling them and asking them to stop attacking the arm. I even recall the leader saying "because it's fun" when I inquired him why?? So expectedly, I hit an arm on the way down from the platform during mass sed and died in the far left corner. The bishop had ress up in about 3 mins, and in that short timeframe the other marksman died as well in the far right corner. So a decision had to be made on who to ress. Right from the getgo this marksman shouts me!, and the party leader somewhat being close to him decides on ressing him. The bishop had no say in this, as I feel like they made me have no say in the matter at all as well. Their logic was because I was 200 and didn't need the exp, the other marksman somehow DESERVES to be ressed. I feel like this was a situation of clear bias as party leader is close with friend MM. Here is the general breakdown of what happened. -So basically, here I am asking why the arms are being attacked on second warning. The answer to that is "because it's fun". -I die first, the other marksman dies second. The reason why the other marksman was ressed instead of me was because I was 200, and therefore I didn't need the exp. This is flawed logic because, WE ALL equally spent the same amount of time and effort, same amount of pots, and other resources to finish HT. I could even make an argument that I should be ressed because I'm level 200, therefore have a higher priority on NX/Htp then the marksman who was level 185 at the time. Isn't the HTP/NX order always SED>BSP> Higher level NL/SE anyways??So logically I would be 2nd right after the BSP/SED who's used to doing both at the same time. At the very least you could do something where both parties need to choose a number, and the one with the closer guess gets ressed. The whole issue regarding this just seems to be an "oh I'm your friend" so I'm gonna ress you instead of the other guy. I can see where you're coming from with the exp and all, but the way you don't even ask me if that's okay? And just jumping to conclusions like it's nothing was just rude as hell. Is my time not valued at all even after I white all three heads in your ht party? Don't want to sound like I'm angry, but the way this whole thing was treated just irks me a little too much. I wasn't even asked anything, and felt literally left out with the way things were handled. The 5k can be put aside, the thing that just pisses me off is the way you handled the whole thing. I even waited at leafre asking what books dropped, and if it weren't for remotely only one person I knew in the party, I really would have no idea what dropped in the HT run at all. Maybe it's me expecting something, but the leader just literally stares, and walks off after ht was done as if nothing ever happened.. like.. come on.. at least tell me the shit books that dropped or something.
IMO, You didn't need the EXP. Is it fair? Probably not but I don't think this is anything new, Maple is insanely cliquey and I'm not surprised they took care of their friend (with you being the stranger that answered a smega I assume?) Putting money in however, doesn't mean you deserve anything. Just a personal opinion on that sort of attitude. Angry enough to make a whole post though? End all, you probably deserved a cut. I completely get why they ressed the other guy (he could use the EXP), and I know you wanted the NX or the HTP or whatever, but you could have been compensated otherwise with a split of the profits-- which I think is the real crux of the issue. I don't think them ressing the other guy was unfair, as exp is exp and the end of the day your payment is money one way or the other (whether it's in the form of NX, a new HTP, or raw cash). Should you have died? Well, probably not but shit happens which is why I'm leaning towards they should have given you a cut since they prioritized a res for a friend who could use the EXP (which, was probably why he was there). ~ I would just say in the future instead of joining PUG boss runs, organize your own so you can make the call, or run with your guild. Perhaps a little crude and unfair, but their party, their rules. All the "customs" and "rules" we've made (we being the Maple community) are, to quote a pirate, really "more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules". Of course, this is all one side of the story... so who knows.
fyi, I wasn't compensated any of the nx or whatever was dropped. I didn't even ask, nor do I even need it. All I heard was snipe and airstrike from my one friend in the run. As I told you, all he did was stare and leave. But I think you're missing the point, it's not even the nx that I'm mad about, it's the way that the whole situation was handled. ummm that's debatable though. Mesos in maplestory= time and effort so I don't see how that'd make sense really. I was trying to prove a point. Honestly didn't think it'd take this many words to explain. How am I not supposed to die when they're purposefully triggering mass sed with head B still up? o-o
Hi there, I would like to be transparent for a moment. Most people know that there aren’t many active MMs on the server, let alone active MMs above 18x. Just a little digging and I’m sure some people could figure out from your story that I was the MM in this situation. I’m going to start by saying I’m sorry the situation played out like it did. It was unfair to you and did not include your input/opinions. Now I want to explain my side of the story. I have very very little experience running HT. I only started running in my late 17x’s because I am low washed and did not want to be a burden by randomly dying in all my runs. And the moment I did start running, I already introduced myself as a meme because I d/ced in the first 3 of 4 runs I went on. I spent a week avoiding any discussion of HT because I was embarassed. Today, I doubt anybody in the party noticed, but there would be multiple times I just stood there motionless. I was having intense lag spikes, and I was actively trying to avoid d/cing (GFX, moving closer to my router, whatever). When I finally came out of the spikes, I was still emotionally charged from surviving the lag. And then came the part where we hit arms after 2nd warning. We were all attacking the same thing. Being that I am inexperienced, I try to follow whatever the leader tells me to do. When the warning came, most of us kept hitting the arms as you said. For what it’s worth, the moment you spoke up about 2nd warning I was like “Oh shit” and climbed up to B. When mass sed inevitably activated, I fell the same fate as you had (hit arms on my way down and died to rocks in far right corner). When we were gauging if res would be up in time, I had not fully realized that you had already died as well. And the moment I saw a way for me to survive to the end of the run, yes i did exclaim “me!”. They ressed me, you exited the run, and nothing more was said. When I exited at the end of the run, I did not make it 3 seconds into Peak before my client crashed. I thought to myself Phew! and did not log back on because I went to go eat lunch. The proper action should have been to PM you and listen to your perspective. I did not know anything of the aftermath, and only assumed you were told what books dropped and possibly be compensated. I admit this was unfair to you, and it should never have happened. I also want to thank you for not making a big fuss in the moment of it all. I apologize, and I hope with time we could be friendly acquaintances. Good luck.
