Hello, I've been experiencing a weird glitch that I first noticed while doing 'Mark of Heroism' quest at Typhons. Sometimes the mobs that I've attacked provide no experience nor drops, and it happens more frequently with mobs with higher HP. I'm not 100% why this happens but my best guess is Flamethrower, which was originally supposed to have a DoT that's been removed, is still sometimes activating on the server-side and I cannot ever see the DoT or HP drain via my client. A spectator is unable to see the DoT either, but would also see the monsters dying providing 0 exp when in party with me. I'm also unable to replicate this bug if I'm not using Flamethrower skill at all. Here's a short clip of me fighting two stormbreakers, one of which provided no exp/drops. There are times when the mobs just randomly die without me attacking it for a while as well, but I don't have a recording of that yet. I considered this a major bug because I'm now unable to use my strongest mob skill without risk of mobs giving 0 exp/drops, and this would also slow down my party whenever I'm training.
This happens with meso explosion as well on headless horsemen and big foots. That's the only mobs I've noticed it on.
From what I can tell, it only happens when the mobs are running into a wall. Like a cliff edge they can't get over or when I've boomed a big foot against the wall of the map and it has no where to go.
I've also seen that happen on Bigfoot as well, but I do believe what I'm experiencing is strictly to do with flamethrower because: I cannot reproduce the same bug without flamethrower and I was able to get the monsters in the middle of the platform and reproduce the bug, with flamethrower of course. (Skip to near the end, was trying to make them die from the DoT)
This bug needs to be fixed asap, mobbing as an outlaw is painful. I've been going to himes and about 20~30% of my kills give nothing because of this. It's so painful to hear the death noise and see no experience at all. I think the DoT does work but there's no visible damage/burning effect to go with it. Also anyone got training suggestions? Killing HH and sniping newts is all I can think of... Here only 1 gave me exp while using ice+fire macro.
Since the latest duplicate thread on this topic got closed, I'll write the reply here. @noble5239 actually made a novel discovery but people seemed to have misunderstood him due to his language barrier. He is saying that he had experimented and found the cause behind the missing exp glitch upon use of Outlaw's Flamethrower skill. @Inusama and Mayu already reported this bug but have not found the cause behind it. Inu's explanation was "If you kill stuff with ice+fire macro that require multiple hits to kill often they give no exp." We know by now that the dot damage of Flamethrower is applied but the burning visual effect is missing. According to @noble5239 , if one uses Flamethrower skill on mob(s), one must not let the dot damage run out until the mob dies. People may disagree due to these recordings because the mobs died with dot damage, but from the observation of OP, Mayu most likely used flamethrower BEFORE the video was recorded to lower the mobs' HP (1st Video: As 2 stormbreakers HP are quite low at the beginning of the video) meaning one of them (that didn't give exp) must have had a pause after the latest dot damage duration got expired. Therefore OP recorded his experiments as a proof. In his 1st Video, He continuously uses Flamethrower skill (He uses ice skill too but that's only to keep the mobs frozen so he doesn't get KB and this does not affect the glitch) to kill the 2 Jr Newts where the dot damage never expired in this scenario. Both Jr Newts gave exp upon death. In his 2nd Video, He used Flamethrower in the beginning then only used Ice skill for a duration, enough to make sure the flamethrower's dot damage has ran out. Then, only later later with 2 Jr Newts' HP much lowered, he spams Flamethrower skill again to finish off the Jr Newts (dot damage upon kill). However, both Jr Newts didn't give any exp upon death. His videos proved that with given circumstances, an Outlaw MUST maintain (after the 1st use) the dot damage on the mob to gain exp when killed. Maybe this was intended (most likely not) but @noble5239 was emphasizing the importance of the burning effect of the dot damage (that's missing now) as it'd be nearly impossible to keep track of mobs that were already affected by flamethrower when there are a bunch of them like in Inu's recording. Although I cannot be entirely sure of his intention, I think he was suggesting an alternative fix for this glitch seeing how long it was left unfixed and considering the complexity of the glitch.
