    Hi Royallers,

There will be a patch on 19th January 2022 for the release of Update 76 and the release of the Lunar New Year event.

The downtime will begin at 22:00 Server Time (UTC) and last for approximately 2 hours. The game will be unavailable during this time.

New setup files will be made available during the downtime. You will need to download and install the latest setup to be able to log into the game after the patch. Due to the number of changes, a mini-patcher will not be available.

Name change requests will be processed during the downtime.

    Thank you,

    - The MapleRoyals Staff

Due to some issues found with entering passwords, and a combase.dll error: Patch has been extended for 2 hours and will now end at 02:00 Server Time.

New files will be available again shortly and will be required to access the game, if you already downloaded you will need to download again once they are available.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

Just letting you all know where we are in terms of fixing issues that have arisen since this recent update.

First of all I want to explain how some bugs which were previously fixed have returned in this update. The reason for this is because we revamped the way that all our client edits were handled; Instead of having a mixture of client edits done directly to the client and some done via a .dll, we decided to move every single client edit to the the .dll. The benefit of doing this is that it allows us to more easily manage client edits in a single place, as well as now being able to use a single unedited client for both 800x600 and 1024x768, - so no longer requiring us to have to manage two separate sets of files for future updates. Moving all the client edits has been a fairly complex process, especially for the case of the 1024 client which has hundreds of client edits done to align screen elements to the higher resolution. Unfortunately but also inevitably there were some client edits which were overlooked, this is why there have been some seemingly obscure but minor issuess found since the update was released, however these minor issue have already been fixed for the next patch.

As for the more major problems... the black screen crashing issue seems to be being caused by the new client we are using. We attempted to use a clean v83 client with devirtualized code to improve performance, but it turns out that the devirtualization of the client may be what is causing the issues. This issue never happened back when we used a localhost client alongside wz files, and the main issue we were encountering with that were graphical issues at bosses which lead to crashes. With the current client, as far as we know there haven't been any reports of the old graphical issues we used to have. Therefore it is likely that the fix for graphical issues (done via the .dll) is working, but the client itself is having problems.

So we are now attempting to use the default v83 client with wz files - as opposed to a localhost client which we've been using in the past which flags up as a virus. We are hopeful that this client with the .dll fix should remove black screen crashing issues whilst not causing graphical issues at bosses. The only issue which might remain to be fixed later on is low FPS when there are lots of players on the screen.

We are unsure if we will have things ready for a patch tonight, but if not tonight then hopefully tomorrow. Thank you for your patience while we iron out these issues, and extra thanks to those who have been reporting bugs!
