Currently in-game, the quest "Monster Riding" isn't available for beginners for some odd reason, and because of that they can't ride a mount of any kind. I have raised my own beginner to level 70 in expectation to get a mount, but apperantly it's not a viable option for beginners. I don't see any reason why it should be kept behind bars for a specific player, so I'd love to see that changed. Next update will make mounts available for beginners. This was addressed in a similar feedback thread a while back!
