When you have your pet out and enters another map, it sometimes disappear. If you try to click your pet to get it out again, it will dc you. However, if you hang in a rope it will appear again. If there are no ropes in the map, try changing channel or re-entering the map. I know you said you are having trouble taking the pet off, but I thought this could be useful to know.
