Hello everyone and welcome to my first Guide ever, In this Guide i want to show you how you can play Royals (and like every other Game which doesnt support a Gamepad by its own) with a Gamepad or every other Controller like Playstation or xBox Controller which you can hook up via either USB or Bluetooth. Whats the whole point on playing with an controller ? Well if u ever grinded several hours with a Mage using a controller you know why i allways use it while selling leech or just grind on my Mage. It makes things just more comfortable to grind while relaxing on your couch while just using a controller. To begin with heres some information about xPadder, xPadder is a little program for Windows OS, which detects Gamepad-Devices and let you set up different profiles for the devices you have. In such a profile you can setup buttons and triggers on your gamepad and allocate a keyboard key or mouse action to emulate whenever you press the asigned button. here is the official xPadder Website, where you can purchase and download the newest version. But if you don't want to spend any money on this you don't have to! Older versions of xPadder are Shareware. I myself use Version 5.2 which you should find on the internet somewhere. I will try to upload my Version here too, as its License statet that its free to use for personal use. Get xPadder 5.2: here You will only need winrar to unzip. If your done downloading and extracting the file you should have a single little xPadder.exe Place this somewhere you want to Keep it like "C:\Program Files (x86)\xPadder\xPadder.exe" Spoiler: Unsupported Windows version ? Now you may encounter this little Error here: As i think nobody is using this old Windows versions, anymore, you need to do another thing before you can execute xPadder: Right click xPadder.exe Click on Properties Select the Compatibility tab Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for" Select any Windows XP Version (preferentially Serice Pack 3) You should now be able to run xPadder. If you didn't did it yet, before starting xPadder. You should hook up you Gamepad device right now. I cannot guide you here as every device has its own things to do. Just get every driver u need installed and wait till Windows tells you that your device is installed and ready to use. If u got any more specific questions, or problems with hooking up your controller try to search the WWW about it first. If u still don't find any solutions, feel free to contact me through this thread and i will try to help out then. You are ready to start setting it up now ! Spoiler: First Startup If you execute xPadder for the first time now it informs you about that there is no installation procces required, so if you didn't do it before you got a last chance to put it wherever you want to keep it. Hit the "Start" Button when its at the right location. Next, xPadder wants to know where to save its files, these files are the different profiles we will create later. There is a profile for every device, plus all the key setups you will create. If you decided to put xPadder to a location like i suggested (" C:\Program Files (x86)\xPadder\xPadder.exe" for example) i recommend to use "Program Location" as place for the files. But however choose whatever you like best. Oh well another question to answer but don't give up now, thats the last one, trust me. Theres actually no real reason to not choose "Associate" here. It will just Associate files with xPadder custom file extensions like the profiles mentioned to xPadder. Spoiler: Creating a Controller Profile There we go, thats the xPadder main window: The first thing we want to set up now is our controller device. In order to do this, click the little controller icon top left and select "New ..." If you cannot do this step, xPadder didn't recognized your device, you will not be able to hit the "New..." or any other button then. This will get you a new window which looks like this: As you can see in the title of the window, xPadder recognized that the connected gamepad to my Computer is a "Wireless F710" type. Well will cyle through all the tabs in this window now (Image, Sticks, DPad, ...). Lets start with the first one, the Image: - This step is optional but it will help you to keep overview about your settings allot - Spoiler: Pictures always help! First of all an Image how it should look like: xPadder gives you the option to either insert a picture of your Controller or to draw one yourself. I would recommend to just use one, Google can be helpfull here. Note: xPadder does only support .bmp The image you will find on the WWW will mostly be .png or .jpg so you will need to use a tool like GIMP or Paint.NET (ofc if you own a version of Photoshop that will help too). Thats how it looks for me after inserting a nice image of my F710. Looks neat doesn't it ? The next tab, Sticks: Spoiler: All about Sticks The first buttons to hook up are our Sticks now, to enable then hit the checkbox labeled "Enabled" Stick 1 is usually the left stick on your gamepad, as soon as you hit the "Enabled" checkbox xPadder wants you to move the stick to detect it right. Just follow xPadders instructions at this Point. When your done you can give the stick another name. Moreover you'll see a new object appeared in your image, im talking about the circle you see in the next picture, you can freely move it around (click and drag it with the mouse). As you can see here i have moved the circle to its respective Stick on my F710's background image. Now simply repeat the last steps with the second stick. Done with the second stick aswell. Now comes, the DPad: Spoiler: DPad = directional pad Same as with the sticks, start by enabling the DPad. It will ask u to press the Buttons then, just follow the instructions. When youre done you can rename your DPad if you feel to. (not necessary) And again move the DPad graphic to its place. That can look like this then: Adding Buttons: Spoiler: No fun without those boys - buttons Gamepads have many of them, and we want to add all of them to our xPadder Profile. To do that you just need to be in the "Buttons" tab and press a button. A new button will appear, its recommended to give them a respective name here. Then move it where it has to be. Repeat this step until xPadder knows of all of your buttons. Don't forget the L1 and R1 ones. My finished button setup looks like this now: Last but not least, the Triggers: Spoiler: No worry if your controller doesn't has some - triggers You should know what's to do now. Check "Enabled" as allways to get started with Triggers. xPadder gives you instructions again, just follow them. Well one last look at our setup here: As we finished the controller setup by now, you can close the controller settings window. Back to the xPadder main window, you may noticed that our changes already applied here. Its very importand to save all the work you've done now! You can do this by clicking the little controller icon, and select "Save As..." Just save the controller settings file in the same directory as you put the xPadder.exe in xPadder informs you that it will use the settings as the default settings. Your key setup: Spoiler: Map your keys! The next thing to do is to set up which keys we want to emulate when pressing a button/trigger or move a stick. You can do this, by clicking any of the grey/red squares. This will pop up a keyboard which looks like this: You can asign a key by either pressing it on the real keyboard, or on this virtual one. Here is how my setup looks like for my mage while grinding/leeching just see this as an example, as everyone will find they're preferences. Movement with: DPad Teleport with: R1 Magic Guard with: Start Button Buff Makro(ingame Makro) with: Y Meteor Rain with: X Jump with: A Seal with: B Again, save your work ! This time that is done by pressing the key which looks like a letter (top middle). Then click on "Save As..." give it a name you like and there you go. You can setup several key configs in one profile by switching the numbers in the bottom right corner. Dont forget to save the profile after changing something. For mouse ussage you can use one of the sticks, I forgot that you can setup the Stick-Click as a button aswell if your Gamepad supports this, that would be a nice way to emulate mouse clicks. Finally i hope everything is understandable, if u have any questions annotaions or suggestions feel free to share them. Greetings Lacrima
Guide seems unattractively long, try using spoilers or shortening a few spots. Honestly probably just all the pictures.
Despite it being a too long read in one go (spoilers with a one liner or title above them what is in there would indeed be nice) good guide! I use XPadder myself from time to time, on moments I want to lie back and relax and train while there isnt anyone to talk to anyways (leaning forward is no fun). I really appreciate you stayed honest and put the purchase link in the guide for the newest version.
Good idea! Ive packed all sections in Spoilers for now, so you can open just the one you need! This really makes it easier to look at.
