So I was looking for the right server that matches my preferences the most and figured I'd sign up to a couple of the ones on the Reddit's /r/mapleserver sidebar and after a few weeks of playtime, I decided that Maplestory isn't what I want to do to keep myself occupied. I still want to make sure I can come back to this server if need be, but is there any other way to go through this without being banned? I had originally believed a password reset would be enough, but a user pointed me towards setting up a forum account here. From the way it was described, the procedure itself just seemed antiquated. ID: SloppySnail Please let me know if further information is needed. Thanks
The Staff do not provide the service of account deletion You can just uninstall the game and come back if you wish to resume the gameplay progress of this server
Really? So any information that is contained within the MapleRoyals server if at any point gets compromised.. any and all account information stored on it will be revealed? I probably shouldn't even have played Maplestory to begin with if I had cared about privacy, but reading a response like this really makes me wonder how management up-top has been going this long.
Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer. It's highly dependent on where MapleRoyals is officially registered, but many countries have rules and regulations regarding the collection and deletion of a user's personal data. For example, the UK has the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR - 2018) which gives individuals the right to request their personal data be deleted and gives organizations 30 days to respond to those requests. 1. GDPR Information: https://www.gov.uk/data-protection 2. An easy to understand guide about the GDPR: https://ico.org.uk/for-organisation...tion-gdpr/individual-rights/right-to-erasure/ 3. How to request deletion/what happens after (if you're in the UK): https://ico.org.uk/your-data-matters/your-right-to-get-your-data-deleted/ Given the delicacy of personal data, the low number of legitimate deletion requests, the ease (probably?) of fulfilling the request, and the possible legal problems, I don't see why these requests shouldn't be fulfilled.
I have nothing to say if you wish to invoke GDPR on Royals You probably need Admin's confirmation to do that (if the GDPR is applicable on Royals)
Perhaps I need to reword this here.. Why am I unable to remove/modify my account - and its data? There are many commercialized companies with their own intellectual properties that allow you to do this - Just the other day I requested an account deletion from a Groceries reward site, and though I had to wait a couple weeks, they still provided the removal. Are you telling me that as a paid customer of this service, this privately used service that is illegally using another person's intellectual property is preventing me from removing its collected data? Do you want me to breach the terms of service just to get an account removed? To add on top - if this account is removed, I'd like this forum account removed as well.
Putting this here for reference https://royals.ms/forum/threads/deleting-account.111213/#post-619235 Edit: wasn't a good reference as John isn't Staff anymore, but I added new references in the posts below
So I should take any information from people who put in some money into this service as the same terms as an administrator? I thought that wasn't allowed. https://royals.ms/forum/threads/mapleroyals-game-terms-conditions.86769/
No wonder you suddenly quote the Staff Impersonation rule lol John is an ex-Staff, you may confirm the details of account deletion with any Staff such as GM or Admin if don't feel safe taking his words as reference List of active Staff - https://royals.ms/forum/members/?type=staff You can have this reference too https://royals.ms/forum/threads/can-a-whole-account-be-deleted.110602/#post-621855 Edit: Also this https://royals.ms/forum/threads/delete-mapleroyals-account.122377/#post-696398
Listen. I thought my request was pretty simple, but unfortunately this thread is showing me it's not. The forum here shows that everyone's a donator. Maybe they're a GM, maybe they're not. Since I'm new, I obviously should know who an administrator would be and who isn't. Should I have known that because they have some GM item on their hat that they're an admin? No. Could you have told me that this is an Admin and I should just PM them instead, or would you rather have played ring around the rosy until this answer was met? I thank you for your response. Maybe this thread will show an example to just spam the administrators to get your information removed.
