And in what language would the forum be named? For example, right now it's Svenska. What would it become?
I'm afraid there is no such language. I don't see why there could not be a Norwegian, Danish or Finnish subforum. You can always come visit us in our Swedish subforum, but I think the main language should remain Svenska (Swedish). That is the whole point, no?
yes why not make a subforum for every single langue there is and then let ppl visit the different subforums. (then whats the point in having any of these subforums) the point is to have a place where you can speak a different langue and still be able to understand/be understood, hence I don't see why other scandinavians should be left out since we speak almost the same langue.
Seriously? Swedish and Norwegian are mutually intelligible languages, while Danish is partial. I see no reason why they can't change 'Swedish' to 'Scandinavian'. It reduces clutter by merging groups of languages together, and allows more people to interact with each other!
egonics please know the facts before saying stuff... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scandinavia Sweden,Norway and Denmark
We have to study it in school but barely anyone can actually have a conversation in Swedish.. like me f3
@John I'd just rename the subforum to Nordic (I know it's not a language) but it includes 5 (6 if you're including Estonia, which has strong ties with the Nordic ones. Don't ask me how it is, I was learned by that in school) different languages; Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. But with @Hampa 's post, everything would be a lot smoother.
The point is being able to speak your own language I don't understand the point in bringing in languages that aren't remotely close, it will only end up in being an English thread.
the point is being able to speak your own langue. The point with the merger is that more people from different countries should be able to do that aswell. We could just ask for a subforum for every langue there is, but that would be so much clutter and they will stay verry small and practically unused. Its not like the swedish forum is overused and letting more people in would destroy it or make it worse. In my opinnion I think quite the opposite actually bring more people there and someone might actually use it!
