I was just wondering, what is the reason behind account sharing being bannable? I see many cases of rather innocent account sharing that result in permanent bans. I was just wondering why this rule exists to begin with, like, why is account sharing so wrong? Also, why are things like mass defaming and KSing bannable, but I heard scamming is not? I remember in GMS there were players infamous for scamming, KSing, etc. If these players are just banned and the community is trimmed of any troublemakers, it makes the game a bit more boring does it not?
so basically it's to 1. avoid drama that the staff doesn't want to handle 2. to maintain the competitive integrity of leveling to 200?
Drama? The reason the rule is implemented is because account sharing gives you an unfair advantage over the other players. You need to work hard to level your characters yourself
By drama i mean issues for example, two people shared account but the friend took all their stuff, some issues of account ownership, vote abuse, etc etc I don't think acc sharing would be such an issue even for "competitive" because of 2 reasons: 1. say 3 people acc share to be "number 1". well the only reward is pride and satisfaction, and each player will only feel 1/3 the satisfaction 2. said players who acc share just for competitive advantage would run the risk of their partners betraying them and changing the account info or taking all the equips That being said, I can't really understand this rule when it seems to mostly affect innocent newer players and many of them are constantly getting banned by this rule lol. But I'm not very competitive or serious about this game, so maybe other people have a different opinion
What ever you believe is at your own discretion and I will not try to influence on it. You wanted to know the main reason why account sharing is forbidden and it is because it gives UNFAIR advantage over other players.
It goes far beyond that. If you share your high level mage for example with someone else, it gives him/her the advantage of making more mesos/lvl than otherwise. It would create an "elite" society. This is especially dangerous for the economy. As to the KS'ing and mass defaming: IMO, since the server is manageable with the number of staff we have, it is a huge plus to have rules against those behaviors. I'd take boredom over useless, time-wasting rage caused by someone that ks's me. Mass defaming is also something people do cuz they're buthurt. If a player really did something bad, then you probably are covered by the ToC and should be able to report the player. There are enough assholes to sustain a "non-boring" environment lol. GM's aren't omniscient, they don't know your motives...they have to be fair to everyone, making exceptions here n there would seriously question their integrity.
I also like to think that the rules helps cut down on offenses of other types, even hacking. 75% of the time when someone gets banned for botting/hacking, they accuse someone else for playing on their account, like their 'little brother'. This rule also keeps a hacker from trying to use this as a defense, even though it probably wouldn't work anyway.
