When quoting/replying someone previous quotes don't get included into the reply you're making. For example quoting (or replying to) the next reply Will result into Instead of However, the multiquote tool suggests you actually get the innerquotes included also. Not sure if this is a XenForo bug or a forum setting.
It's neither a bug nor an option: the quote button deliberately strips nested quotes because nested quotes are fairly obnoxious and take up a great deal of vertical space for content that is already found in the thread. Moreover, a properly quoted post will include a link to the previous post, should people wish to venture backwards: Of course, people who really do want nested quotes are free to construct them manually!
Ah, I was hoping for an option not to do it manually. Constructing a proper quote manually requires checking the thread id and member id, something I shouldn't be bother about in my opinion. The arguement of vertical space is solved with the 'Click to expand...' feature though. Spoiler: Click to expand... Opted for a picture here as I don't know how the 'Click to expand...' works for larger screens. Thanks for the clarification nevertheless.
I remember doing this a few years ago on another forum. These lead to more interactions because every person that got quoted will get an alert that they were quoted, but this can also lead to never ending arguments and chains of quotes. Fun times
Not necessarily. Just select the various posts using the multiquote feature and then cut and paste the various quotes. It isn't really, in my mind: because the pertinent information (read: the most recent message) will be on the bottom, one has to expand the quote in order to benefit from the nested quote. After a handful of posts are in the nested quote, the newest information necessarily resides out of view.
I was just confused to why the little previews of the multiquote do show the nested quotes and when you actually import them they get removed. It would've been nice if they actually were included for my purpose, but it certainly wouldn't be in all cases (because of what @Plenty mentioned). So a little part of me hoped there was an option/trick available to actually include them automatically.
