    Hi guys!

So I want to record some MapleRoyals gameplay (and other random stuff) for a work project. I also want to be able to like, uhh... add stuff to the video itself. So like, you know, if I were to put like a transparent text box (with text inside it, ofc) on top of a monster and move the text along with the monster as the video runs. If that makes sense. Though I imagine this part could probably be done with some software after I have my video.

So my question is, what's the best program to record MapleRoyals gameplay? Considering quality and stuff. I've heard of OBS, Fraps, Bandicam, etc. (But I don't know if I want Bandicam just because it leaves that watermark there.) Like, I guess I would prioritize quality of the video the most. Then size of the file afterwards (but not at the cost of the quality). And second question, what's the best program to edit videos and stuff to add things to it? (Also free stuff pls.)

The paid version of Bandicam has no watermarker.
As for editing, if you want to stick with free, check out https://www.openshot.org/

I'm not too sure about recording MapleRoyals in particular, but OBS is usually the most recommended (free) software for capturing gameplay footage. I've also heard good things about ShadowPlay, but that one requires a Nvidia graphics card.

Unfortunately, I have no recommendations for a free video editing software as that's something I haven't done a lot of research on. ^_^'

OBS is good for recording. Most free video editing software are not that great. You can get a free trial for Camtasia though which is a good entry level video editing software if you dont want to spend anything on getting sony vegas or any of the adobes

Hmm alright. I'll look into starting with OBS for recording (and then I'll worry about editing after). Thanks guys. :)

I always record with OBS but I can't get it to capture the window screen of the client only (which is annoying cus u have all the extra black space or if u have a background it comes up too. Well, never tried to full screen my client and capture a video but let me know if you get the background space off!

Now, @Saturn recommended Vegas Pro to me which is GREAT for video editing. I think he records his videos with something besides Banditcam but we just gotta wait and see till he responds. Good luck~

This video pretty much explains the pros and cons of Fraps and OBS Recording Software.

It all depends on what you're looking forward to when recording a video. I like to create montages with a lot of zoom-ins; therefore, I use Fraps for its consistent high-quality. Now of course, the high-quality does come with a price--every 1 minute footage that I record equals 1 GB (that's a lot)--but I deal with it.

    Make a twitch account.
Set up stream settings. Use OBS as its free. Xsplit if you want a paid program.
Go into twitch settings and have it save your VODs.
Use a vod clipper to clip the clips you want. http://twitch.center/vodcutter
Save clip to pc and edit away.

I think this should work in theory. I have been thinking about recording my fortnite games and making montages. I definitely want HD videos but I cannot afford a TB SSD to make actual HD recording worth it.

Just got bumped from 200/10 internet speeds to 400/20 so i've been really considering it.

This is a good alternative if you have a very fast upload speed. (Should be around 7 MBps if you want to do it in HD. Might be less since Maple isn't very intensive.

    EDIT:
Just saw you want free programs. Go look into free trials of adobe cc programs like AfterEffects.

I recommend lightworks for a free editing program.(interface might be difficult)
