I just got home and got to read some news about the new patch and buddy list changes, and I wanted to express something about it. as an old term player, I used to have quite a lot of people on my buddy list as the time passed by. people that somehow managed to have a special spot on my casual routine. this takes even more place when this is a community based game, and some of us have a very social sense (which is a huge perk) months bursted, and everybody eventually moves on. we all have real life issues, and we might leave things behind in order to focus onto said issues. I'm not proud to say that all of my friends quitted playing. the very first friends I was excited to chat and play with everyday when I got home. we all have met special people on the internet, and fortunately, as the year's digit increase, the social media does likewise. therefore we can still be able to communicate through other sites and applications, regardless of inactivity on mapleroyals itself. sadly... I never got to add a lot of significant acquaintances on any other media. hence, all those IGN began to rot still written in my buddy list in-game as 'offline'. earlier this year, with the new content releases like the server's anniversary/easter's/halloween events and such, a little amount of those old IGN's started to pop out as 'online' in my buddy list again (for a fleeting amount of time). it felt quite rewarding to instantly remember the real name of that ugly dexless assassin you used to CPQ with, and re-connect with that unknown individual you once considered as your 'friend'. it doesn't take more than ten minutes to feel a potentially sentimental attachment with someone. either it being in real life, or in a game. ...and that's why it's underwhelming to now be forced to delete 150 buddies off my buddy list. 150 buddies that at least once, made an appearance in the shape of a protagonist, or an extra in my gaming life. one hundred and fifty buddies that I kept intact in my buddy list for years, hoping for any of them to come online again and be able to chat again. it doesn't feel right.
I sympathise with everyone in the same situation as you. The only thing I can suggest is creating an additional character and sending buddy requests to the characters that you had to remove from your main character. Then hopefully if they ever reappear they'll accept your request and you may be able to contact them again. If we knew beforehand that allowing buddylists to expand beyond 100 would cause problems in the future then we wouldn't have done so.
