So for a while now I've noticed that some players have multiple forum accounts and nothing has been done about them such as: Spoiler: Examples Now I understand that there are some cases which would be understandable to make another forum account for such as forgetting that you had a forum account or forgetting the password, but then there's this guy who made an alternative forum account for the sole purpose of "shitposting" (his words). Please note that I have never talked to or even mentioned this guy before (I wasn't referring to him as a clown) What's the point of having rules if they're not being reinforced? Why does something as simple as merging forum accounts have to go through the admins first? I'm sure GMs & Community managers can do that job just fine since both Admins already have too much on their plates.
I believe this is enforced, but it needs to be reported. Did you report this user? From what I remember about Xenforo merging accounts is only in adminCP. It's a heightened privilege because it can be misused and there isn't an easy way to revert the merge (there might be with newer versions). It's in the same field as account recoveries and you would need to verify that the person you're merging forum accounts with is actually the same person. I think the guy is just troll baiting and should simply be ignored after reported. There's no telling that he actually has another forum account and one simply could just use a VPN/VPS to hide that
I think there's some misunderstanding going on Supposed if the users accidentally created multiple forum accounts, the Mods would request for forum merger However, if the multiple forum accounts were created for malicious usage such as defaming others, the Mod reserve the right to issue WP or perma-ban the forum accounts Have you submitted a report about the guy who you believe is multi forum accounting? I also don't think it's a good idea to create such a thread unless you have absolute proof of the person multi-accounting
He didn't deny not having multiple accounts, and called it shitposting, and the forum account has already been banned.
That was poor wording on my part, what I meant by is that Duduu guy is still active on his 2nd forum account despite Tim already being aware of it.
@Nerd summed it up with his Xenforo response. Only the Admin role based on the website’s limitations can merge Forum accounts. Expecting any of us to be around 24/7 to immediately enforce these rules is a bit unrealistic as we also have irl commitments. I’m not sure how long those Shoutbox messages were up for, but I checked the Forum around an hour and a half before those comments were made, and then I checked back again just as Dasha started to clean it up. So I don’t think it was up for too long imho, and expecting such a fast response time to those kinds of things is just not realistic at all. Especially when all of us are spread out in different time zones, and have other duties irl and can’t be here 24/7 (working, family, any kind of irl commitment, etc.) to moderate things. This is also why we rely on having players report these types of incidents to us. Edit: Apologizes, forgot to add I'm not sure what the deal is with Duduuu's Forum account/old Forum account as I can't look into it, so I can't really speak about why that is the case.
As the others have explained, there are technical and other challenges in enforcing this rule. It is not as simple as one might think. Further, this rule is actually enforced more often than one might think, and we are constantly monitoring accounts for suspected duplicates or accounts made with malicious intent. For one of the examples you listed (TteokBokki), that was an account (as well as another) I should've banned as soon as it was apparent they were an alternate account, and I take responsibility for that. Unfortunately, it takes time to understand and be confident in making decisions (banning), and that was about two weeks into my position as staff. I'm going to move this to accepted. We wish to enforce the rules to the best of our ability, and we encourage players to report any rule breaking activity. Thank you.
As an ex Forum Mod, I would also like to encourage including the reason or details in the reporting It's difficult for the Mods to take action if the report content is simply - "Please take action" - "Can you do something?" Please do give some info such as - "Suspected multi-forum with this account (example)" - "Might be a ban evader linked to (example)"
