Basically the spark I had for this game returned once more so I'm itching to play and hopefully continue with where I last left off without having everything wiped, if possible. I went ahead and changed both the email address I had link to this account as well as my password. However, applying both the PIN and PIC does require me to log into my account and set it there which at this point I still do not have access to. On the control panel it currently states my PIN and PIC have not been setup yet.
Thank you, I am now able to log back into my account. I also went ahead made sure all the necessary information has been updated. I appreciate your guys effort in getting my account back. Also, if it isn't too much to ask, are there any other step I should take to insure this doesn't happen again?
There are a number of way to ensure your credentials aren't compromised. The most essential being to make sure every credential you pick (password, PIN & PIC) is unique to MapleRoyals only. Using credentials identical to ones used on other private servers, particularly other private MapleStory servers, is a prime way to lose access to your accounts here. Other private servers do not contain the same strength security measures as Royals does, and for those other private servers, it is easier for hackers to get account information from them. Once that information is gathered from another private server, it is common for those hackers to use those credentials in other games to attempt to hack accounts. If a player uses identical credentials here, the hacker can easily gain access, and that account will be compromised. We have seen this exact scenario happen more times than we can count. The next best defense is regarding your PIN and PIC. Do not pick easily guessable numbers, like 123456, 111111, 999999, your birthday, etc. Those are commonly used in "brute force" hacking attacks. The PIN and PIC are your secondary and tertiary defenses for your account. If your password gets compromised, and your PIN and PIC are easily guessable, a hacker will likely get in. The above goes for anyone reading this. Credentials unique to MapleRoyals ONLY is your single best defense against having your accounts compromised. Hope this helps. Have a good one.
