Quest Reuel's HP Quest Recommendations

    For those whom currently participate in the Elixir of Life HP Quest, we all know of the 10 different quests received by Reuel:

    The Aqua Road quest
    The World Tour quest
    The Ludibrium quest
    The NLC quest
    The ToT quest
    The Ulu quest
    The Dragon Canyon quest
    The Dragon Forest quest
    The West Minar Forest Quest
    The Central Minar Forest Quest

    I feel that while the majority of these quests are simple, there are a few which can be very time consuming especially to the average/sub-average player and these include:
    (1) The World Tour quest (drop rate on Rose of Death and Decay is terrible, Giant Golden Monk's are very tanky)
    (2) The NLC quest (drop rate on Ancient Amber isn't the greatest, Typhon Egg has some difficulty to obtain if you fall down the map multiple times)
    (3) Ulu Quest (Duku's can cause difficulty as they stun frequently if you cannot 1-2hko)

    What makes things worse is when you spend 20-30mins completing one of these quests and you only obtain 1 Chaos Elixir (+20) HP from Reuel. I feel that if any of the above quests are completed you should be guaranteed to receive 30-50 HP as they are much tougher than any of the other HP quests. The alternative solution would be to lower the chances of receiving these quests in hopes to make it easier for players to obtain HP through the quest.

    It seems there are many perspectives on these quests...

    I actually prefer the ones with higher level mobs, just cause it means theres actual exp & mesos to be gained, and I feel like I'm really using my character in some sort of "challenge". After all, this quest line is 120+. But, a lot of people I've talked to don't get why you'd want harder mobs to kill. Here are the quests I enjoy the least:

    The Aqua Road quest: Mainly I don't like killing the flyeyes, they're lvl 41 mob and the drop rate is low. Why am I killing lvl 41 mob on a lvl 120+ character? The only point to this I can see is to encourage players to hunt Pianus while they're in the area. I'd much rather kill Gobis or Sharks. On top of that, you need to go all the way to Ludi to kill Thanatos, which seems unrelated to aqua.

    The NLC quest: Easily my least favorite of them all. The ghouls are a lvl 21 mob with a crappy spawn. And then you basically need to blow a tele rock on getting to baby typhons, and there are only 4 on the whole map. I like killing the Wolf spiders, its nostalgic and good meso, great spawn rate.

    The Dragon Forest quest: The leafre mobs are fine, but along the same lines, feels bad farming green mushrooms at lvl 120+. I assume this is to hint at players to use/learn about the Leafre shortcut from Ellinia. But still...

    These are the 3 I groan when I get them assigned. The rest of the quests are fine IMO, I do wish there was a larger variety considering how many times you need to do this quest to get a useful amount of HP.

    Agreed anytime u get the low lv mobs like green mushroom and ur etc and equip fill up with trash, picking up blue potion … :mad:

    When I get the Green Mushies I go to channel 1 at HHG and party a newb and let the loot all the stuff. :)

    At least for me the eggs have an impressive drop rate so its actually faster than the wolf spiders ...

    Also checking for Pianus for twenty channels is roughly the time it takes to farm all flye eye etcs. But agreed that it would be cooler to hunt the sharks since they also drop SE20 an Pianus is never there anyway lol

    Not saying they are not tedious, just highlighting some good things about them.

    I would love some more different quests though, maybe there can be like 1 or two more with less walking as well? Or one that includes area bosses? << bad idea lol

    Agreed, the Rose of Death and Decay drop rate is low, and Giant Golden Monks are tanky. However, Dreamy Ghosts are in a flat map and are abundant and easy to kill at the level you begin HP quest. Golden Monks have high drop rate for their item, are decent EXP if you are lower level, and the drops are actually quite good. Lastly, this being in World Tour means it's accessible from anywhere, most notably Ariant. I loved getting this quest when I was grinding for HP.

    I'm a shad, so this map is pretty easy for me. Though, I can see how difficult it may be for other classes. However, the eggs spawn in the upper-mid parts of the map. Once you familiarize yourself with the map, you will fall down much less. If you do the quests in the area, falling down is not really that punishing, since you can skip the 'JQ' and you just need to pass one more map (which has a vertical teleport anyway.) I don't see anything wrong with this level of difficulty. Furthermore, some claim channel surfing for Typhon Eggs is beneficial. This may be true for a lot of classes.

    At this point in the game, nearly every single class has a stun or freeze skill.
    • Warrior: Paladin has freeze and stun, Hero has stun.
    • Archer: BM has arrow bomb, MM has Blizzard.
    • Thief: NL has shadow web. Shad has Boomerang Step.
    • Pirate: Bucc has backspin blow (and extra damage by stunning), Corsair has freeze + blank shot.
    The only exception seems to be Dark Knight, which... wouldn't be doing HP quest anyway. I actually like the fact that these Dukus may force some people to use skills they wouldn't otherwise, or force them to stun first, then focus on killing. I've heard more complaints about the vine drop rate from Petri than Dukus. This is more than fine as it is.

    The amount received is balanced so that, over time, one receives an average of 35 HP per quest. Compared to how it used to be, I find this to be quite the breath of fresh air. Getting a chaos elixir does suck, but players should be looking at the long term, not the short term, when thinking about this quest. One could say just about the opposite of receiving 5 tonics for a relatively short task.

    It's not so bad... I used to dislike this particular HP quest as well, however the route is pretty straightforward. Thanatos is quick, you go and take the elevator, then go to aqua and use a scroll. As for the flyeyes, some of their equips (mage robes) are useful and plentiful, and their wings can be used as orbis etc. I've stocked some up from these tasks, and they've come in handy. I don't think all the mobs need to be bunched in the same area.

    Really? This is my favorite of them all. For the ghouls, which are actually quick, I recommend hunting them in 'Hallway - Where are you?'. It's much smaller than the Foyer and easier to navigate.

    You absolutely do not need a tele rock for Typhons, and in fact, I'd go so far as to say that's foolish. Learn to navigate the forest. Especially for Typhons, so long as you've completed the quest to skip over Valley of Heroes, it's a short walk. I like that I can collect some Typhon feathers here.

    Well, I can't argue with this logic. I too resent the junk I get from needing to hunt green mushrooms. This was probably an implementation based on nostalgia or design aesthetics that some may have resonated with. However, I don't think it's something worth changing the quest over... it's an almost free 1 out of 3.

    I think on and off about this HP quest since I've spent the last couple of months doing it daily. I think it's very much balanced as it is now, and shouldn't be fixed in many ways. It wouldn't hurt to have some more variety in there though, and the difficulty in adding more is creating the item icons and ensuring it takes a relatively appropriate amount of time to complete. That being said, I'm not opposed to adding in more, and would love to see a quest with the Aqua sharks involved, as well as some other mobs. If you have suggestions for quests, please feel free to provide them here. You can (or should) be as detailed as possible:
    1. What three mobs would you recommend for a new HP quest?
    2. Why did you pick these mobs? Would they be beneficial for the player outside of the HP quest? (EXP, items, etc.)
    3. What would these mobs drop as ingredients for Reuel? (Names, inspiration for pictures, etc.)
    One could add (area) bosses into the mix, but I think that's a drastic change, wouldn't fit currently, and may be somewhat jank (it is something I've thought about as well, similar to Slayer tasks in OSRS if you are privy.) So I would avoid suggesting those.

    yea it was a really bad idea of mine suggesting area bosses, it would literally just not be possible to maintain a daily turn-over, thats why I crossed it out. Still wanted to leave it in the post though.

    These two suggestions here directly destroy my suggestion about less walking but I kind of like them ...

    1. El Nath:

    Theme: Eradicate that peski pepe. Sry pepe!
    Prognosis: I think this one might be going straight to the most hated ones but I still think nostalgic Pepe Massacre is quite cool.

    Suggested Monsters:
    • Dark Yeti and Pepe
    • Jr. Pepe
    • Pepe

    • rare monster cards that are otherwise almost not worth getting
    • Jr. Pepe easy to reach, Dark Yeti and Pepe reachable using Danger Taxi
    • Pepe is a bit of walking on this hidden Map above the wolves but its pretty nostalgic and insane spawn rate
    • Iconic Pepe Galore

    • Low level mobs involved
    • A bit of walking involved
    • No direct route to El Nath from Ariant (have to go Herb Town Aqua Orbis Route)
    • No significant drops apart from Monster Cards

    2. Sleepywood:

    Theme: Sleepywood. Pure Nostalgia there, make Sleepywood great again!!
    Prognosis: Sleepywood is quite hard to reach so probably, but you have to admit Sleepywood was the shit back then. :D

    Suggested Monsters:
    • Taurospear
    • Ice Drake
    • Wild Cargo

    • rare monster cards that are otherwise almost not worth getting
    • There is 2 area bosses in the vincinity, and changing channels at Spears / Jr Balrog is actually quite convenient
    • Nostalgic Sleepywood and interesting Monsters that are otherwise completely forgotten
    • Can report some hackers on the way to Ice Drakes
    • Quite a few not so bad at all drops that no one would hunt for otherwise
    • Nostalgia and revive a really great Region that is dead

    • Lots of walking and its not on any usual route of high levels
    • Lots of walking
    • Lots of walking
    • People might hate it

    These are two quests that I would really like cause they are nostalgic and they involve great regions with cool oldschool BMG that are otherwise dead. Only hackers go there nowadays lol ..

    Edit: I really think that if there is a HP quest that takes a bit longer but includes cool Monsters, it is still less tedious to do compared to shorter but tedious Monsters, so I think that these two would be interesting still .

    You are right, I went ahead and tested my own quest and while you might actually surf channels there, the quest would be still not viable, since it takes really long and is too much walking around, unless they had a guaranteed drop rate of 100% :D

    The Pepe quest would be doable though - I mainly posted those two as they came into my mind as creative or interesting ones at least ..

    I just realized it is really hard to come up with interesting, alternative HP quests, which - in my opinion - shows that the existing ones are really well made and carefully chosen.

    Just try to come up with a HP quest, anyone, its really not that easy to find something that is not too far away, not too low level, maybe some interesting Monsters etc. etc. - I mean without literally picking Monsters from the next map of one of the existing quests of course ..

    My conclusion is that the existing HP quests are really well done, as the are.

    Some Monsters to include would probably be in ToT, Leafre (like Newties), Sharks in Aqua, maybe some more in Ludi, but it is always the same regions though. There would be Neo Tokyo or Ellin, but I am also not sure if this would fit.

    Maybe Ellin. I mean there is a few tedious 999 quests there so including stems or fairies might not be the worst idea?

    I agree with this, just did CBD quest today and the vine rate was much lower than duku. Possibly changing it from 30 to 20 vines would be more feasible?

    After doing HP quests daily, I figured that maybe avoiding low level mobs is even the wrong strategy.

    I actually think that killing a few lol lvl mobs is not that bad as at high levels everything gets blasted anyway and notable drops will most likely not happen anyway in like 20 min of hunting.

    I also had another idea, what about including Non-Farming Quests?

    For instance, you have to go get something from a chest at Jr Balrog but when u arrive there, there is a letter with crossed of names but only one is not crossed of: Its Jay in henesys. You head to henesys only to see Jay being ambushed by Balrogs, and u need to defend him for like a minute. He then hands you over the ingredient and you go to Magatia to finish the quest. Something like that. Or do it with Maya in the house so its easier to implement with other players.

    This might be too much though.

    But I honestly think that for instance green mushrooms, which can be hunted at HHG or at the map 2x left to Elinia, its much more interesting as the 10th times boring Jr Newties or Skele. These mobs are just way to well known now imo ...

    You have to keep in mind that the Dev(s) are working on other things. Its best to suggest thing that'd be simple enough for the Dev to code, which is what the current iteration does (kill mobs for etc drops).

    I've been farming HP quest on my Paladin and Hero the past ~three weeks and here's my feedback on the quests:

    :VLsad:
    The Aqua Road quest - Would like to see Flyeye etc reduced from 20 to 10.
    The Ulu quest - Would like to see Petrifighter etc reduced from 30 to 20
    The Dragon Canyon quest - Would like to see Jr Newtie etc reduced from 40 to 30/35
    The Dragon Forest quest - Would like to see Dark Cornian etc reduced from 30 to 15

    some more suggestions including low level mobs. I still think low level mobs are quite cool, after all the most tedious thing about HP quest is the walking around, isnt it? At a certain lvl, random mobs will be one-shot anyway so I think it would not hurt to have some of these added in for variety.

    The following two will be really nice, because they are just right there at Magatia. Overall they will not make it much easier, they will just be a nice, welcome variety from the daily running around which is super tedious:

    • Reinforced Mithril Mutae
    • Neo Huroid
    • D. Roy
    • Triple Rumo
    • Saitie
    • Homunscullo

    good to know. Wow I did not even know there was a 5 pots reward. I never got it after countless trials lol ...
    very bad RNG implementation then.

    After doing HP quest daily from Aug 2022, I would like to make a revision to what I had suggested previously.
    I am finding that as Nut mentioned here:
    the NLC HP quest isn't too bad after all and is one of the easier ones to complete.

    However, I still do find that the NLC Petri Vine drop rate is slightly low and advocate an adjustment of required etc. from 30 to 20.
    Additionally, for the Giant Monk etc. it would be nice to see it reduced from 30 to 20 as both the Rose of Death and Decay (Himes) and Heart of Nature (Wooden Fish) have low drop-rates.
    I feel that these adjustments would help balance the difficulty of each HP quest so that they are of similar difficulty.
