With the release of Update #85, a new, amazing questline An Adventurer's Assignment was added to the game. I have personally really enjoyed doing this content with 2 other friends, I like every part of it, hunting monsters in different towns and fighting over who gets cards, doing ancient untouched PQs together and getting flamed because I don't memorize the LPQ box stage combination, finding area bosses or asking NX farmers to let us tag along for the kill count. It was really thrilling refreshing the reward guide by @bibz to see the new prizes as people completed the tasks, and speculating what 10th assignment prize is gonna be, as everyone was stuck on it for a good 2-3 weeks, up until... Spoiler: 10th Assignment Rewards Picture credits to @GreedyTW My motivation for continuing this questline immediately dropped after finding out this is the prize, and I'm sure many others feel the same way, as this particular assignment was significantly harder than the previous ones, only to give 5 SP that you may or may not need depending on if you have Hero's Will 10 but not enough unused SP to max it out, as well as a Medal that takes away from the originality of the traditional Lv.200 Medals, gives 50 less HP and while it does give Accuracy/Avoidability/Speed/Jump which is somewhat helpful and makes it superior to Lv.200 Medals, its just not a good enough prize for such a hard task. - not to mention, this medal is borderline useless if you have Legendary Collector which gives 1000HP/1000MP/3WATT/8MATT My suggestion : Make the medal an NX medal instead, give it 1 all stat, 200-400 HP & MP and whatever other stats you deem suitable considering the difficulty of the tasks. Lv. 200 Medal users are still happy, as they greatly benefit from doing this task Legendary Collector users are equally as happy, cause they also get to benefit from this medal instead of current case where it doesnt mean much I'm curious to hear what other people think the stats on the NX medal should be or what other suggestions they have to make this assignment more worthwhile. Thank you for reading!
Adding an nx medal with stats would cause issues with the other feedback asking for cosmetic medals. Why not something like an nx belt or pendant, maybe similar to a permanent version of the anniversary tree pq one. Either that or add legendary virtuoso and make this medal also a requirement. Edit: Questline was really fun though, I very much enjoyed it. And for the most part the rewards were very good too
An NX belt would make do too! Pendant might be a bad idea as it'd be subpar to the current gold leaf pendant which already lasts for around 10 months tho
If they made it a pendant I'd recommend similar stats to, or maybe slightly better than the tree pq one. And keeping it all year round is a nice bonus since it lets you get a bit more secondary stat without worrying about what to do when it expires, and lets you use it in the range thread
Please refer to this reply. Also let me touch on NX items with stats. It’s something we’ve done for 3 event related items namely Ring of Christmas Spirit (1 Atk, 5 M.Atk, 250 HP), Silver and Golden Leaf Pendant (3 STR/DEX/INT/LUK, 250 HP). All of these have an expiry date and we decided not to add any permanent NX items with stats, because that’s crossing the point of no return. Anyways the main difference between Ring, Pendant and Medal is that an equipped Medal is visible in the game. Hence adding NX covers for Medals would require some deeper edits to our game client and if it’s possible i would prefer them to be stateless as suggested here. Players could then use a strong medal like the level 200, ultimate adventurer, quest virtuoso or legendary collector and cover it with one that pleases them visually.
that's underwhelming to say the least... Legendary Collector remains as the best medal, being actually very easy (just takes long) to get, unlike this one with tons of end-game and expensive requirements for it to be worse. I'm not keen on NX medals with stats, I don't think they'd be a good add to the game. I mean, if I was lv. 200 I would never unequip my lv. 200 medal regardless of stats since it's "the" huge achievement of maxing. and below lv. 200, there's no point in having any other medal (stat-wise) if you already have Legendary Collector. maybe another item would be cool. make it a cool and fun hat to flex. a face accessory with higher +HP/speed/jump than rudolph's nose. even an eye accessory with weapon attack. something relevant for an actual lv. 200 player. something actually worthy to call a reward for making it to the end.
How about make the medal cosmetic, no stats, and rename it to "I Beat Adventurer's Assignment X and All I Got Was This Lousy Medal"? (okay this is like 90% a joke) Alternatively, maybe use this to add a new warp to LHC? Talk to Olaf after finishing and he'll tp you there or something? Not sure how I feel about that since tp rocks are a meso sink and all, and we just got return scrolls, but it's an option. Or maybe Olaf could give a 1/month quest that rewards a 1.2x drop card (1 day)? Still make them work a bit for it of course. I do agree the 10th quest rewards feel mediocre, meaning the only reason you'd do it is if you wanted will 10 on a class pressed for SP like 1h paladin, or for completionism.
Adding on top of this reply, the primary purpose of this questline is to reduce the need for hp washing and encourage active gameplay as the player progress. Other rewards from this questline are more of a cherry on top. It was never our intention to introduce another best-in-slot, or bonus stats (NX or not) item. In fact, the questline was originally designed to distribute the 3,000 hp for each quest completion. Supposedly, the last quest should give a player 525 hp, which is the main reward. However, the questline was later revamped to distribute the hp for the first 9 quests (excluding the last one) so the player could enjoy the extra 525 hp to defeat von leon. And because this revamp removes the 525 hp from the last quest's reward, it now appears very underwhelming in its current state. But I don't think this would be an issue if we release the questline in the vanilla design. Hence, I am not opposed to adjusting the questline back to the vanilla design so there it's actually a motivation to complete the last quest.
Honestly I probably don't think it's the worst idea - moving from black belt to VL belt is -500 HP, so it would roughly compensate for that. However, people who are using this instead of washing might not be as happy with that
In my opinion, why not double down on the niche stats for the medal? +100 Avoid +50-100 Acc +15-20 Jump/Speed +200 Wep/Mag Def +1 All Stats (cope) +111 HP/MP (cope) (+10 Skill Point for the quest reward while you at it totally not because I'm a BW Paladin)
I'd say just throw a bunch of avoid and accuracy on it and call it a day. But its still damn good the way it is now.
I like Saledors idea on the other thread, add to the existing new medal. If you have Legendary collector, combine it with new medal giving 1k hp/mp. If you have Quest Virtuoso medal, add x all stats. 7 might be too much, maybe it isn't too much. THEN you would really be the Ultimate Adventurer and more people would bother with part 10
