So I’m aware of the issue with Horntail and Nvidia graphics cards. Today I bought my first HTP and miraculously didn’t crash by following the seller’s instructions. I was not using VMware, as I can’t seem to open maple on it (unspecified error; may actually be related to this). However I would like to be able to perform optimally in the future so I can participate in runs and focus on playing my character and not just staying connected.

My seller showed me how to check my graphics card, and as it turns out I’ve got both an NVidia and an Intel, both set to enabled. I’ve been told disabling your NVidia is an alternative to using VMware, but doing so and keeping Intel enabled will not let me open the game, getting the same unspecified error. Re-enabling my NVidia card lets me open the game again.

Since this happens both with and without VMware I suspect it’s the same issue regardless. Any advice. Much appreciated.

The error code in both the VMware and my regular OS with NVidia disabled is 2147467259. My laptop runs Windows 10, while I have a virtual machine running Windows XP. In both cases I have Royals running in Windows 2000 compatibility mode as recommended by other threads in this forum. With NVidia enabled I can run Royals in my regular
OS but I'd like to run it with it disabled.

Check if your monitor hertz is 60

And are you using HP computer?

Both my laptop and virtual machine are 60 hertz. My laptop is a Dell Alienware.

My laptop does not have this setting, however the virtual machine does. From what I can tell the setting only needs to exist, but I guess this is where things are going to get different since it's likely no longer the exact same issue for both.

I will try to put things as simple as possible, to avoid confusing you

    For the Error Code -2147467259

If its PC, high chance is due to monitor hertz not being 60

Else it is due to being HP laptop - lacking 800 x 600 resolution

But if its VMware having this error, high chance is due to some updates needed
I'm not sure which as I don't use VMware myself

I would prefer if i didn't need to use VMware so let's try with that.

I have double checked and my display is running at 60 hz. I am not using a HP laptop but rather a Dell, however I do not have 800x600 regardless. This might be the problem and I'm not sure how to address it.

Here are my settings and display options, for reference. This is with the NVidia active but with the Intel they should be the same.

i can't find an option to add a custom resolution whether I have NVidia disabled or not. In fact, if NVidia is disabled the menu to change the resolution is grayed out and
i can't change it at all. I'm starting to suspect the 800x600 issue is the problem, but I just can't figure out how to add it. Even a google search for guides is suggesting menu options that don't exist.

I tried running as administrator in addition to the other options. Nothing seems to work and I am getting the same error.
