Obviously a lot of players have not been too thrilled about the constant server disconnections/crashes. I am sure the staff isn't happy about it either. ~f12
But, I would like to suggest some solutions and possibly get some answers. I did some research, and could not find many threads concerning this problem other than personal help threads, so if I am posting a new thread with information pertaining to another, please let me know and redirect me to said thread.

Firstly, I do not like being misinformed about what is going on around me. Rather than jumping to conclusions, I like to get to the bottom of them. I am not positive if all of the server lag has been caused by DDoSing, or rather if it's being caused by the amount of recent server traffic. Obviously there's been a large jump in server traffic, and that could take many hits on the server's bandwidth as well. I would just like some clarification as to what is actually causing the problem, thank you.

Secondly, I did a bit of research into MapleRoyals' host: Limestone Networks.
I did my best to replicate the current server configuration which is $250 on the website, but what could be added to possibly alleviate some of the heavy traffic and/or DDoSing. In configuring the server, I found a few things that could possibly be added to the current plan that would not be too expensive, but could get the job done. For instance, in the "uplink port speed" section of configuring a server, if there is not already a 1gbp/s connection, adding it could help the server's general welfare when it comes to overwhelming traffic. Also, in the "Bandwidth" section of the server configuration, upgrading from per say if you are on 10tb of data plan to a 12tb or 15tb plan, that could help a lot as well. I am sure that upgrading to a 100mbp/s unmetered port would be pretty costly with an additional $100/month, but that could be the solution to our problem. Lastly, upgrading from a regular IP to a DDoS protected IP address could also help if the server is being DDoSed constantly.

I would like to add that, I am sure that the staff is doing their best to help fix this problem in anyway they can. But, like I said I want some answers and I want to help out in anyway

    Thank you! ~f2

Need a capacity. The biggest PSes did it until they could afford better servers. The server went to shit when more than ~150 people started logging in. I'd rather wait to get into a lag-free game than play the way it is, now.

I think fixing our current system rather than creating a new one would be less time consuming and more beneficial. ~f12

The only other option is to shell out for servers that can accommodate.

Matt has stated in another thread (http://royals.ms/forum/showthread.php?t=11225) that the current issues with the server's uptime are actually due to coding problems and misconfigurations.

He also stated in the same post that the current cost of the server is 450 euros per month - or about 610 US dollars. I'm quite sure he's played with a few more options than what you were looking at for 250.

Correct. We currently have probably one of the more higher powered servers around. As Matt said, while there are times it's a massive lag spike that boots everyone, it is also usually coding related that causes the game server to lock up. All of a sudden, no more messages get printed to the terminal, you guys can't do anything in game, it just locks. It sometimes happens an hour after restart, sometimes days after.

We are looking into options to fix this and other alternatives. Believe us, it is just as frustrating for us as it is for you.

    Pounds rather than Euros, so a bit more, £450 = €570 = $770.
