This post intends to inform players that Shadow Star (Claw) glitch won't work. (Neither is this a bug report nor am I looking forward to gm/admin's reply.) Some of my friends and players I meet in game think that if the range shows the same, the DPS is the same. What the "glitch" is: In the 1st pic., the player is not using SS. In the 2nd one, he is using SS, and he throws hwabi although the range shows that of cilbi. People believe that the DPS would be the same, but it actually isn't. Here is how the experiment goes. The damage formula for a single star when using TT 30 without critical attack is max = LUK*att*1.5/20 min = max/2 = LUK*att*1.5/40 The only att gear I will be using is Garnier, clean lvl 10 claw which gives 10 att, so as to maximize the difference on damage. LUK = 949 att = 15+10 = 25 (subi) or att = 29+10=39 (cilbi) Damage per star without critical attack is Subi: min = 890, max = 1779 Cilbi: min = 1388, max = 2775 Testing high end damage without critical attack: It shows that my range is that of Subi. But the real damage is that of Cilbi. 2629 is higher than max dmg of Subi, and in between the min and the max of Cilbi. Testing low end damage without critical attack: It shows that my range is that of Cilbi. But the real damage is that of Subi. 1191 is lower than min dmg of Cilbi, and in between the min and the max of Subi. Conclusion: This "glitch" doesn't work. Your actual damage doesn't have to be compatible to your range (which is bugged with SS), and your DPS depends on the stars that you actually throw.
The same follows with soul arrows. I did a similar test while minimizing my Wa to as low as possible and attacked low level monsters in hh1. However the Wa difference between fire arrows and soul arrows make the damage differences harder to spot, I'm glad a post like this exists!
