Sharing your MapleRoyals on Facebook

How's it going? I'd like to ask you another question. Hope that's fine.

Well, the thing is like this. On Facebook, none of my friends know I play this game. I haven't shared anything from MapleRoyals on Facebook either. They know I play video games, but not this particularly. So uhm, would you consider it an acceptable thing to share it with others on your Facebook, and have you shared already, yourselves? To be honest, I never did and don't intend to, but maybe I would change my point of view on this. It always felt like this game was never meant to go along with Facebook, but maybe not. Also, regarding things like sharing your real life photo, etc. - you do that on Facebook all the time, but you rarely do it on this game/server. A normal phenomenon - but why? It's kinda hard to understand, to be honest. Even though this game came out in 2005 and Facebook came out in 2004, so this means, Facebook existed when this game was launched, yet nobody shared it on there bacck then either, as far as I can remember. But Facebook and this game seem to me like a sharing of real life with your maple life, and combining them together. That isn't something I would encourage, but I'd imagine people wouldn't necessarily agree with me on that either.

 

Personally, no, I don't interlace MapleStory with social media or other forums/platforms, but if you want to what is there to lose? Do you, dude.

In response to your question/comment about MapleStory being used on SM (FB specifically) back in the day, it actually was, and still is. People use the "groups" feature which are often private/hidden and require an invite (there are public groups too). For example, I'm in a group that's nearly 10 years old and filled with "-insert gMS world here- OGs" who used to play gMS but still wanted to remain in touch with those who made up our community. There are years and years and years worth of screenshots, some as nostalgic as they come. The content isn't shared on a personal page because, as you mentioned, it just doesn't relate to/interest the majority of your friends/family. They wouldn't even be able to understand what the screenshots mean. It's kept for those who it does relate to, those who play(ed) the game. If you're looking to share MapleStory related content maybe you can find a group on there that's open to the public if you feel that's more appropriate.

Personally I find publicizing yourself on an otherwise anonymous game to be-for a lack of a better word-lame. It's cool if you've gotten to know people on a personal level and you have them on your social media/messenger app(s), but I just can't help but physically cringe at selfies and such being posted on a video game forum (AKA the post yourself IRL threads). Like, I use avatars of myself on other boards where it relates, but I could never put those same avatars up on here...it's just weird. IDK why that is, but that is how I honestly feel about that topic lol. I'm sure I'm one of the select few who feels this way so don't take it too seriously.

Well, I do...because my Facebook is meant only for gaming stuffs. So I pretty much share whatever that comes my way.
