Yo so I spent like the past 30-40 minutes trying to troubleshoot my client and ect and after searching through the forum and trying different things I read that one of the recommendations was to check the "shoutbox" to see if the server was down. Now from my point of view as a person that's never been on this forum nor played on this private server I didn't know what the hell this shoutbox was or where to find it. It's aware to me now that you need to have an account to view it. Is there like, any way to put said shoutbox as viewable, or at least a server message somewhere on the site (I mean it's literally just putting a simple h1 tag into a div and saving, whether that's through the use of php, javascript, or just plain html) so people who don't have accounts on the forums can actually know if there's any server difficulties and won't have to spend a portion of time troubleshooting and installing files before knowing what the real problem is?
Usually when the server goes down unexpectedly there is only a message during those times where an admin is not available to fix it, the downtime is rarely very long, and with the new source coming these issues shouldn't be a problem. I would argue that not many search options would tell you to install anything, especially for dc after character selection, since it won't help. If you were able to play normally before the crash, it's unlikely something on your end would break. I agree it would be a good addition having at least a message so someone not logged in would know where to find it. I like the shoutbox being members only.
Well I mean, I didn't really know it was a d/c. I started playing just last night. Since I'm running on windows 8.1, after I saw the unable to connect to server message I assumed there was difficulties of compatibility, since that's been the issue a majority of the time. So when I started troubleshooting, I went through the forums and tried downloading new clients, new .wz files, and installing "lolwut". After none of that worked I decided to make a forum account to ask for help from a dev to which I saw the shoutbox that said the server was down.
