I have been trying to download the december wz files and redownloading the setup since the update, but i get downloading times of like 9 hours for some wz files and 20 hours for the setup. When i initially downloaded the setup and client a few months ago i did not have these problems. One - two weeks ago i installed VMware to be able to multi-client. So i was wondering if it could be possible that somehow VMware has increased the internetconnectivity and because of that the downloading is very slow? It must be said that my internet overall has been slow lately but. Before the patch this wasnt really a problem since is dont regularly download stuff. The overall internetissues started at about the same time that i installed VMware.

as long as you dont have your virtual machine running you're fine. if you want help figuring out what it may be, email me a log of your startup using the program called autoruns by sysinternals. I will inbox you my email if you choose to do this.

@Oldie All help is appreciated. But what does that program do and how could it shed some light on my problem?

You said your internet is slow, so if you send me a log of your startup items using autoruns, I can help you identify if there's anything running in the background that could be using your internet.

The first thing i always ask in situations like this is:
Does your VM have enough hardware resources assigned to it? Hard drive space, RAM, things like that. Is your VM having any other problems?

You can always copy paste the files (works for me on vmware workstation and an XP VM) straight onto the VM desktop or set up a network folder with your VM to just transfer your files from a host machine instead of redownloading them on the VM.

If VM has enough resources aplied to it, that i don't know. But the times that i've used it it was working fine. Only that it now has the same slow downloading speed as my regular computer. The problem is that i wanted to download the new patch files onto my regular computer but that didn't work out. So i was wondering if maybe VM made the downloading go slower.

Run system diagnostics to check if there are any programs sucking a lot of network resources by using resource monitor on your machines. Look for any programs that have a large amount of total packets sent/received. You may want to consider doing this on other computers in your household as well. This will help determine whether your internet is just slow or if your computer has been hijacked and made into a ddos zombie or something like that.

How do i run system diagnostics? My PC is set to Dutch so i sometimes have difficulty finding things described in English. And how do i know if my computer has been 'hijacked' and what can i do against it? Simply performing a virus/malware scan?

Running a scan is a good thing to do as well. The performance monitor looks a little something like this. Translate "resource monitor" into dutch and search for it on the start menu I guess. Click on the network tab and see if any programs you don't recognize are using a large amount of network data. You can end the programs by going to the task manager-> processes -> find the process and click the end process button.

Let me know if it helps.

If nothing else you can download the files somewhere else, like school or something, and copy them on a USB drive.

I havent been able to figure it out yet. Running a scan didnt point towards any infections and according to the performance monitor there arent any other programs active which use a lot of data. Maybe its somehow provider related. For now ill try to get the files another way.

In any case, thanks Chopsticks and Oldie for your efforts :)
