Unlike other jobs that spam 1 skill repeatedly, a buccaneer must adapt to what he or she is fighting and figure out the optimal skill rotation. If you care about big damage and soloing bosses in a timely manner, turn around and never come back. Buccaneers suck at everything (except pulling bitches) and, realistically, are only kept around to buff the party and look pretty. If you're serious about livin la vida buccaneer, it's in your best interest to make a bishop first. Grinding a knuckle pirate is an absolute drag; many quit before making it to 4th job. The fact that the energy attacks are broken (indefinitely) makes it an even bigger nuisance. If you're a masochist who wants to actually play a Brawler/Marauder (I'm looking at you, Sila), good luck. [9002] Stats Are you ready for some in-depth discussion? …Keep your DEX as low as possible—only add enough to equip your knuckle. I do not think it is useful. Learn to use your mount. *Both skills are useless. I chose to max Double Shot because I sometimes like to troll and use a gun. This is much better than the Transformation/Shockwave route. [9006] 4th Job Skills A lot of factors go into what you should add points into first. Rather than just listing skills, I will explain it. Since Speed Infusion gives the same speed at all levels in Royals, first get it to whatever level has a duration you’re comfortable with. +10 lasts 200 seconds, which is the same as maxed Booster. Next, you should work on Dragon Strike and Barrage. Start with 1 point in each. If you have friends to boss with on a regular basis, max Barrage first. If you intend to spend your time grinding at Ulu/skeles/ToT, max Dragon Strike first. Once you've maxed DS and Barrage, you should get +1 Super Transformation then max Demolition, then finish maxing Super Transformation. +9 Maple Warrior and +1 Time Leap can be added whenever you feel necessary. This completes your core. Core Review 10/20 Speed Infusion 30/30 Dragon Strike 30/30 Barrage 20/20 Super Transformation 30/30 Demolition 1/30 Time Leap 9/30 Maple Warrior Energy Orb is a semi-useful situational training skill, however it currently does not work. Eventually, you’ll have everything except Snatch maxed. [9007] Equipment If you took my advice and made a bishop, it would really help you here. Many popular bishop maps drop end-game buccaneer equips: shoes from squids, overalls from Ulu1, and knuckles from skeles. This makes gearing up fairly easy and affordable for us. Dragon Slash Claws are also relatively easy to craft compared to other weapons--needing only mithril and wisdom crystals (skele drop). [9008] HP Washing HP Washing is not required for buccaneers. (With practice, you can kill bigfoot without being touched. I can tank Anego but have yet to even fight one.) However, it is easy enough to wash in Royals that it would be foolish not to. If you wish to tank bigfoot at a reasonable level (13x), you will need about 170 INT as early as possible. I had 360 INT and have 21k HP at 16x, for reference. The method for washing a pirate is different than other jobs. Let’s assume that you have a bunch of extra MP that you’re ready to wash. What you would do first is add 1 level-up AP into HP. Then you’d use an AP reset and take points out of MP and put them directly into HP. Your last AP reset will be used to take out of MP and add to a main stat (to recover that first point you added into HP). What this does is guarantee 40 HP per wash, rather than a random 36-40. This differs from other jobs who’d add all their level-up AP into HP then reset points out of MP and put them directly into stats. [9009] Strategy TBA [9010] Miscellaneous: The Future/Random Thoughts In Royals, the modified SI adds 3 attack speed at all levels. If it is ever fixed, it will add +1 at level 1-10 and +2 at 11-20. The 4th job skill build may need to be adjusted accordingly. If the admins decide to go ahead with the skill balancing that has been discussed quite a bit on these forums, these are my suggestions (in addition to the GMS v86 changes): Increase the "stance" effect chance from Energy Charge. Make Super Transform actually add attack like it says. Make the attack boost from Energy Charge stack with pots. Tweaking Stun Mastery to be more useful in 4th job training; perhaps by making Dragon Strike stun. This would pull us out of the lolmage tier and somewhere just below warriors. Tnks 4 read.
Great start. Gets right to the issues that most people have questions about. I have the training rates for Brawlers on my %/Hour thread from when I was making a Brawler. Let me know if you'd like me to tell you some suggestions. Feel free to reference any guide and thread that I have made if you need to. P.S. Needs more knuckle sandwiches
Lol i laff at buccs that arent me. I out deeps everyone ez. Y'all need to lern2bucc. goml. Bollocks out.
Hey Gooby will I be able to get by with almost no effort put into adding INT for washing? Like only having 30 or 40 ever.
i would like to know what is so abd about bucaneer since im planing to do one? energy blast bugged? what else, low dmg % on 4th job skills? also for a low/mid fund how much int and washes/resets would be recomended to decently boss in parties all of this is ofc taking into acount that the new patch will fix/buff bucaneers a bit
You should add demonstrations on how to do bucc techs. i.e. Dragon Dancing, I-Frames invulnerability, etc. #buccsourcehype
Just wondering, why exactly are some of Buccaneer's skills broken and "unfixable"? Does it have something to do with the way Nexon integrated the class into the game? Why do none of the other classes have this problem?
I don't understand why hp washing that way would be any different from hp washing regularly. I tried it and it still gives me a random amount of hp.
If energy orb were to be fixed, it would it be maxed ahead of Dragon Strike? Does Dragon Strike have a higher or lower speed than Energy Orb (Assuming procced Energy Charge?) Any guides as to where to get Bucc skill books?
