I wasn't really sure if this fit better in Events or Feedback, but seeing as this is the suggestion subforum and this is sort of a.. suggestion.. for some events then so be it. --- Here are some events I have been exposed to over the years. None are too incredibly complicated, though I have always been a fan of explaining the event each time rather than just copy/pasting a script, as some staff members do. (This may not be happening on this server. To be honest I've been to maybe a maximum of 4 events since I joined a year ago. They are seldom and usually jump quests, which I hate!) I'm sorry if any of these events are already hosted here, I just haven't been around while they are in action I suppose. One suggestion is to try and add a !stun command that permanently stuns the players, and a command to unstun them, if this is possible. I believe the current stun only lasts for a limited amount of time and that can be problematic in most events. --- Okay, I came up with 5 events. If I think of more I'll add more. If anyone else has ideas for events, please post them in this thread or make your own! The staff is sort of lacking in this department. Whether it is because they are uncreative, lazy, or have a lack of time to deal with coming up with events, we [the players] are here to help! Also, just because you [the staff] are unpaid volunteers, that is no excuse to refuse to try and make the server more fun! Alphabet Rumble First of all, this event may not be entirely ideal for this server, seeing as we have a lot of people. It is also harder for the host to keep a hold on, but it can be really fun, especially as it gets toward the end! First, you line up the group in no particular order, so long as they are in order and won't shift around (I recommend stunning!) Then, you (the staff member) pick a letter. Starting at whoever, you have them say a word that begins with that letter. Then, going one by one to the right, the next person will say another word starting with that letter. The words must be English, as well as having a definition on dictionary.com (or another website if you prefer.) Contractions are not allowed. Plurals are not allowed. These rules can be edited, more or less, depending on the host and how many people are attending. The first person to either repeat, speak out of line, or break one of the rules mentioned above will be warped out. Then starting on the person directly after the one who lost, you would begin on a new letter. This would continue until you have one person and they win the event. Minority Wins This is a very simple event to host and explain. It goes really fast as well. It is best hosted in the OX Quiz map (109020001, if I remember correctly.) Have everyone stand in the middle of the map. When the timer begins, they now have however many seconds (probably 10 or less to keep it quick) to pick a side. When the timer ends, stun the map. The side with less people continues. Eventually you get to a really low number of people. If you have 2, you would have to have them compete in some other fashion, perhaps a russian roulette style randomness. If you have 4 or 6 or another number where they constantly rig it to always have it be a tie, you could have them all whisper you a number, 1 or 2, and the ones who pick the least continue until you get down to the scenario with 2 people mentioned above. The last man standing wins! Name The Item This event has been extremely popular in a number of servers I have played. It is simple! You drop an item, they name it. They must name it EXACTLY as it appears in your inventory. For example, if you drop The Summoning Rock, they must say 'The Summoning Rock'. If they say 'the summoning rock' or 'The Summoning Rck' they will not get it. First person to name it correctly would receive a point. The first to 3 or 5 or 500 points wins (though I don't recommend 500 points!) This event encourages learning of items as well as improving WPM! It also creates very healthy competition, and is generally fair since we all play this game and have the same access to the knowledge! Hide and Sit If I remember right, I made this event back on a server I used to staff! This event is pretty fun, and can either be really fast or long, depending on which way you make it. Basically, you (the host) go into hide and hang out somewhere on the map. Give the people a timer and when it ends, stun them. The closest person to you either wins or is warped out. If you do the former, it could last for say 3 rounds with 3 winners total. If you do the ladder, it could last until you have the last person standing. All around I always liked this event and had positive feedback from the players. Escape The Wraith Don't even ask why this is called this. It was by some Dutchlandian who I think wasn't quite all there. Anyway, you have everyone hanging out on one side of the map. They are stunned. Then when they are no longer stunned, they have a given amount of time to get as far to the other side of the map as they can. This seems pretty simple, though you can make it more interesting by spawning in Super Neckis so the players get knocked back. I'm not sure if the Neckis can kill people in one shot, especially since they are in some jump quests. You'd have to do testing on that one. The person who made the least progress loses. That or whoever makes the most wins. Whatever the host prefers.
http://royals.ms/forum/showthread.php?t=4488 This is another thread to check out for more event ideas.
I really like these ideas, Luke! Especially Minority Wins and Name the Item. Would definitely love to participate in them if the ideas are incorporated into the game. p.s: no foot in PB jar for you
These sound like some promising events! Alphabet Rumble and Name the Item sound especially fun to me, I would definitely participate if they implemented these!
I really like Minority Wins as it can be easily implemented, as you said, on the OX quiz map. Maybe set a very short timer of 3-4 seconds so that people can't change their minds once they're off the middle.
'Name the Monster' could be a variant on this event. I remember a quiz for one GMS anniversary that required you to put in exact monster names based on an image. Although summoning monsters around low-level players could be dangerous, I'm sure there are some maps that would allow for this. Escape the Wraith sounds like it could be really fun, kind of like a less(?) frustrating jump quest.
COCONUTS! Large map with florina coconut trees. Two teams. Team that breaks the most coconuts wins. The team that loses is eliminated. The winning team gets split into two new teams that go against each other. Repeat until 2-3 winners.
