Hey all, I'm a newly minted night lord and just trying to plan out my skill build. I'm just about to level TT to 20, but there's no way I can afford the TT30 skillbook any time soon, so I've got to decide what to level next. I think I am going to settle on getting 1 in venom and a few points in shadow stars, then maxing MW10, but I'm also really interested in Taunt. So, question to any night lords out there: Does Taunt work on boss monsters? If it does, I think i definitely want to put some levels in it for zak and pap runs and eventually HT, but if it doesn't, I think i prefer MW and venom. Advice/answers appreicated.
Taunt does not work on bosses, only mobs for grinding purposes or farming. The skill build I went was: TT 1 Shadow star 1 Venom 1 then max TT20, MW10, shadow stars to 6 for duration, then I maxed shadow shifter to 30. Shadow shifter is extremely helpful in staying alive at bosses like zakum, anego, etc. There's so many times where Ive almost been slapped at Anego but Shadow shifter proc'd and saved my life. After shadow shifter, I then maxed Shadow claw for the extra duration, then I went to taunt. I didnt get TT30 until 179 (not necessarily by choice- i failed 7 books).
Venom also has limited use since, like Taunt, it doesn't work on bosses (or Road to Oblivion mobs). Just stick the 1 point in Venom and then come back to it later on, after Taunt is maxed. Sila already covered everything else, so I'd just be repeating her if I continued!
I'd even say go for Ninja storm over maxed Venom first. Ninja storm is a useful little utility tool I've noticed, pushing mobs away from you so you dont end up punching them instead. It's not very useful until it's maxed because of the sucesss rate, but it's an easy book to get.
Start going on HT runs once you hit 155 , save up points and get the book for free ! Btw , only skills I added points to were TT , MW , Shadow Star and Shadow Shifter , but I am a nub NL so don't do it .
To get Ninja Storm, you first need to hunt for the “Unknown Letter’ Storybook from Ghost Pirates or Dual Ghost Pirates. http://grabilla.com/05310-e49a3bad-b8c6-41e7-b48b-bd92b79e2b9f.png Once you’ve found that, head on over to Ludibrium and then go inside Terrace Hall. Go all the way left until you get to Cloud Terrace 5, going through the portal will bring you to Cloud Balcony. Go all the way left until you hit the hidden teleporter, which will bring you to “Hidden Balcony’. Talk to Unknown Thief and accept the quest. He asks you to visit guild headquarters and bring him a marble with a maple leaf in it. It is NOT a drop so dont waste your time killing monsters. Go to Top of the Hill in Orbis and double click the maple leaf on top of the guild hall http://grabilla.com/05310-8056fd8b-776b-41d5-886a-f6a66002cd13.png Take this back to the mysterious ninja back on the balcony. You'll be asked to find three different items and told to bring them to Hellin, your 4th job instructor. *Boogie’s cursed whirlwind (Boogie- note this is the monster that spawns at Zakum) http://grabilla.com/05310-f6589e51-d7a7-47ed-a4fb-47c143305131.png Black tornado (Thanatos) Griffey Wind (Griffey) *Note: Currently, the Boogie’s cursed whirlwind does not drop from the zakum boogies as they’re supposed to. Make a character issue thread with screenshot proof to ask for the item to be given to you. Bring the three items to Hellin (4th job instructor) and you will unlock Ninja Storm.
Ninja Storm works fine but the quest is a little bit bugged because of the Boogie's Cursed Whirlwind drop (refer to Sila's post about that). Ninja Ambush does not work though. You just see the animation and nothing happens.
This is probably because of typos in Plenty's "Mastery Book Guide" which lists "Ninja Ambush" twice (although with different icons) when one is ambush and the second is actually Ninja Storm.
Exactly why I got clarification. I figured one was Ninja STORM, but didn't know which. Preciate it Sila. One more level then I'll be done saving for MW20 & TT30 and on to Ninja Storm
Even if Ninja Ambush did work, it's limited in usefulness. Normally, it’s supposed to do damage per second in a small area, but it does ignore weapon cancel.. So that's really it's only use. Ninja Storm is much more useful.
I never knew ambush and Storm was two different skills so I assumed you was talking about ambush and not ninja Storm(well both I guess), I was thinking the names was just marked different like fake/shadow shifter Maple warrior/ Maple Hero. Thanks for the quick guide for getting Ninja Storm.
There's a bunch of weird names for the skills, but no they're two different ones. Fake = Shadow Shifter Showdown = Taunt etc. lol
