Hello folks! As the title says, I have some questions about the stats of gear drops! [I play mages exclusively, and so I'll be using mage gear as my frame of reference.] I used to play GMS way back in the day, and have played on a number of other private servers before landing here. My current cleric is level 50, and a few times now, I've noticed I picked up a piece of gear that's WAY stronger than what the typical range for the gear is. Here are my examples: Green Starlight [level 38 mage robe] - shop-bought is +4 INT +1 LUK, INT RNG range is typically 3-5; the one I looted is +7 INT +2 LUK White Guiltian [level 40 mage hat] - average is +2 magic attack, RNG range is typically +1-+3; the one I looted is +7 magic attack Evil Wings [level 65 staff] - average is 80 magic attack, RNG range is typically 75-85; the one a friend gave me is 90 magic attack Here are my questions: 1] Generally, is this just a known thing that happens on this server? If so, does anyone know the probability of getting something this godly compared to a normal drop? 2] Could I theoretically keep hunting instances of the gear I want until I roll into something of this caliber for each slot? [I'm capping my luck pretty early so I'd only do it for my final armor set, which isn't going to be miserable ] 3] Is there an easy way to tell if I get non-mage gear that's this caliber so I don't end up NPCing it instead of selling in my store or giving it away? I know the blue-highlight is unreliable because it only tracks one stat, so you might pick up a shield that has max defense and none of your main stat and it has a blue glow, for example Thanks in advance!
Read Godly Items Explained. You can use the "Library" on the main website to search for items, and hover over the desired stat to see the possible range, which includes "Godly" status. It hasn't been updated in a long long time, but an update seems to be on the horizon (this year?) You can use regular maplestory databases and add onto the stats accordingly (again, see the guide above.) As for being a mage with luk, I recommend you just go pure lukless. Of course, the play style is up to you, and low luk isn't bad either. I recommend looking at one of the two bishop guides in the guide section. Eventually, you'll consult sources less as you learn what items are valuable at what stats. Hope this answered most of your questions.
Thanks for the guide! I already looked at the Library here and it didn't show any ranges, and the ranges I know are from the archived hidden-street.net. The choice to go low-luck instead of luckless is something I'm committed to, luckless is boring and I like wearing and scrolling normal mage gear. I do this on every server, it's my style and I'm sticking to it My third question is specifically asking if there's a way to tell WITHOUT consulting outside sources. Is there one in-game? Based on your answer and what I'm reading in the thread explaining the feature, I'm guessing no?
Hover over the stat like so with your mouse: Yea, low luk is cool! I myself am trying to get to a point of wearing an elemental staff (165 required luk) while also being pure lukless. Gotta push those limits . Yes, you will probably need to learn the stats offhand or consult outside sources. There is currently no way of telling in game exactly without prior knowledge.
Need to mouse over the stats to see the range Although it's possible to estimate the godly range, it may not be accurate For example, if a weapon base attack is 25, the best possible would be 30, and adding maximum godly to it would be 35 But not all items observe this manner of +5 as the base perfect
