    Hi...
I wanted to play Maplestory offline but the best idea I thought of was to make a private server and play it all alone. I read a few guides online on making v62 and v83 servers. I have a VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION.

Will any of the steps in making the private server cause my Internet connection to be messed up? Especially those replacement of Java files, execution of MySQL, port forwarding and hex editing. I wouldn't want to even attempt creating the private server if it messes up my Internet connection because I'm much of a noob when it comes to computers. :-/

Thanks in advance for your replies.

(And no, this isn't a thread advertising any server.)

Presuming the server will run on your own computer - then no it won't because you won't be using an internet connection to play your server. You likely don't have Java JDK installed on your computer, so you wouldn't be replacing any java files which you already have, execution of any MySQL queries would only use CPU processing power and being 1 person this would be tiny, you wouldn't need to port forward if you are the only one playing, you might not even need to hex edit anything because a localhost client is already modified to connect locally.

Thanks for the reply. I'll try making the server. :)

Why would you need to edit Java files? Isn't MS written in C++?

Post-Big Bang Maple is in C++. Pre-Big Bang, on the other side, is coded in Java.

    As far as I know.

I'm pretty sure the majority of sources are actually still in Java.

Afaik the coding was changed over from Java to C++ in v0.88 (The Dual Blade and Potential patch).
