Hey there, so I just started 2 days ago. I currently have a 38 Cleric. I don't mind Clerics but I realistically only have one because that's what everyone recommends you start first. I don't have a crazy amount of time to play so I'm not super excited about leveling a cleric way up just to make money for another class. Are there any other reasonable classes that can start out with minimal funding and still be relevant without HP washing? I kind of hate the whole idea of HP washing from what I've read but I understand it is a part of the game. I know for sure that BM, NL and Corsair all basically NEED to be HP washed to be able to survive end game bosses so I will already assume those are out of the question. With that being said when I did play GMS years and years ago I was always intrigued by Shadower, Dark Knight and Hero. If it's such a large advantage to start with a Bishop then I'll stick it out on this. I don't think I'll get burnt out since I can't play very much per day. Thanks in advance everyone!
well, imo the reason that a bishop is so recommended is due to genesis being a great skill to sell leeches with , and also their skill of HS ( i dont remember the name, the xp one ) , is probably one of the most important one, so if you'd like to play in a group and not just grind alone all the time, its worth it, even though i am myself , just started and im cleric at level 62 , its quite rough , but being social and meeting people will help you a lot in the future, you just need to look at this server, as a long run investment, and not like all the other cookie cutter servers, that give you everything as fast as possible , and you don't need to interact with anybody
Warriors need the least HP washing so they are definitely a great option for you. If you value convenience over thrills and challenges, Hero would serve you well. They can do fine without HP washing but minimal washing can make them even safer, with very little cost - relative to ranged attackers. The playstyle may be a bit boring since all you do is hold down 1 button most of the time but decent DPS, high survivability and swift early progress are guaranteed. If you prefer challenging gameplay with some mechanical skill requirement, Dark Knight is another option. Given the same HP goal, washing costs less than heroes thanks to Hyper Body buff. Mastering the berserk mechanism can be troublesome and cause irritation if you have a slow reaction. On the other hand, you can theoretically deal more DPS than heroes if you master the control. This may depend on your standard but Royals provides enough methods and tools for ranged classes to survive against almost every end game boss. HP washing will just make things way more convenient as you won't have to find HB provider nor grind for equips with HP stats. From what I read, you seem like a casual player with the short term plans. If this is the case, I suggest picking and playing any class that attracts you the most (after your bishop). You might encounter elitists who look down on you because of the low HP but you can still have plenty of fun with 0 washing. This extra pool of HP will only begin to matter when you get involved in serious end game content with long term plans. It usually takes very long to reach that stage.
I'd suggest one of the melee classes, Hero/Paladin don't really need washing though it's better to have some int gear in case you want to wash later on (it's useful for doing sed more easily and tanking some of the highest hitting bosses without HB). You don't really need base int for a warrior, you can even get 30k HP with only like 120 int in total (and you don't really need 30k, I only washed 22k and I rarely die on my Paladin). They are also easy to play and very tanky. Drk does need washing to get 30k with HB but I think it's onyl like 100-150 washes and you don't need base int at all, but the class is kinda difficult to play Bucc is also a fun class that has good damage and iframes (and pretty cool skills) and is pretty easy to play, it does need some base int (maybe 100 or so or a bit less) if you want good HP but you need a lot less washing than ranged classes. You can also play it unwashed and tank most bosses but it's kinda risky since you are a melee class I didn't play shad yet but I heard it's kinda like bucc, you need some base INT to wash it to like 9k at least but it's a lot easier than NL who needs 12k+
