Disclaimer: As Administrators / Game Masters, you have the right and obligation to punish players who threaten the community & security of Maple Royals according to the Terms of Service agreement. The purpose for this suggestion is to assist unique cases that are difficult to solve and/or deemed worthy of a second chance.

We've all made mistakes in the past and hope for a second chance, but as of right now, it currently rests on this policy: "If the rules are broken, then the punishment must align with the severity of action." This policy may apply pressure for the GM's / Administrators who are left to make a decision according to the rules of conduct and not based on the user's appeal for a second chance. For each appeal, the GMs / Administrators send a message to their community based on the way they handle the situation. The natural response may either be positive or negative - based on who was banned, for what reason, and whether or not they deserved a second chance. In accordance to every suggestion I submit, I will provide a list of pros / cons to the best of my knowledge.

    Pros:
    - Supports a growing community
    - Player-base may feel more secure
    - Allows constructive criticism to take place
    - Supports both sides of the argument
    - Shows the community that you care about their concerns
    - Community & staff bonds may strengthen
    - Relieves pressure from GMs / Administrators
    - Display of Democratic Leadership

    Cons:
    - Tyranny of the Majority (bias may occur)
    - Could potentially harm security (unless handled correctly)
    - Controversial issues may tear the community apart
    - May also apply pressure to GMs / Administrators

The final decision would rest upon on the GMs / Administrators.

    Community-Open Court Appeals:

    Community Response Guideline:

    1) Detailed and adequate reasoning
    2) Honesty
    3) Decent grammar
    4) State relationship to the player
    5) Flaming will not be tolerated

These factors may be used to determine the outcome of the banned player:

    - Forum and Maple Royals activity
    - Server & Forum behavior
    - Amount of time they put into the server
    - Age & Presentation (Grammar)

Edit: God damn it, I forgot to make this into a poll. State your opinions if you have any folks ~ my stance is neutral. A part of me believes in second chances and community consensus, another part believes this can lead to misjudgment.

I don't think community should decide who gets unbanned or not. As you said bias may occour and someone could get all this friends to reply positively on his appeal. With that said I still think communitys voices should be heard, just not as a part of decision making.

I agree with second chances to some extent. If a certain period of time has passed and the player still shows interest in playing I think they should be given another chance. Maybe a wiped account if it's someone who duped or bought mesos/duped WS.

I think the community court option already exists, and that is the staff. I mean the members of staff chosen by the administrators are already those who we feel are the ones who would best serve in a capacity of making decisions such as who to ban/unban, and really exactly who you would be proposing as members of the community court. And to be honest, really no one has a final call over the administrators, and ultimately Matt. This server is Matt's, he can do literally whatever he wants with it. So if he decides to take his toys and leave, he can do that with no one having authority to tell him no.

I certainly appreciate your well thought out idea, but I simply don't think it is necessary or desired at this time.
